Become a PetStay carer.
So you want to work with dogs and be home based?
Have you ever thought how wonderful it would be to work from home and able to work with animals? Well if your a dog lover and want to have a home based job that lets you work with dog, is very flexible then maybe you will love being one of our carers looking after dogs in your own home.
About our carers.
Some of our carers have dogs of their own whilst some may have lost a dog and don’t have a dog at the present time. Our carers are carefully checked and abide to PetStay guidelines, have a secure garden, at home during the day and will treat the dog as one of their own. Each carer have years of experience of looking after dogs and have the time to give to them. This idea has come from years of not wanting to put our two dogs in kennels. We believe this is a loving, safe, secure solution to lots of dog owners.
"We've been PetStay carers for over 3 years and love all the different dogs we get to look after, plus the extra money comes in very handy."
How are your carers vetted?
You must be a genuine dog lover and are at home during the day. We first interview you in your own home whilst checks are done on the security of the garden. If we feel you meet all of PetStay criteria and after references sought and insured you would be already for your first dog.
How many dogs can I look after?
Our service is a one-to-one so no other dogs will be taken from another household at the same time. You are allowed up to three dogs but only form the same household BUT you choose what you are happy with, if you only would like to look after small dogs then we would match them to you.
Do I have to provide the food?
No the owner will bring any food or treats for the duration of the stay. Any toys, bedding, medication, leads will also be brought.
Does the dog/s have to be vaccinated?
Yes each dog MUST have up to date vaccinations, wormed and been treated for fleas. Proof of the vaccinations will be brought to the meeting and will be shown to you as proof.
What about walking the dogs?
All dogs will be taken out each day for walks. When you have your meeting with the owners all routines will be discussed. The dog is only ever walked on a lead.
What if the dog becomes ill?
We/you would endeavour to contact the owner or the next of kin. The owners provide a next of kin and vets details, the owner or next of kin will be liable for any expenses.
What happens next?
If you would like to ring us for an informal chat and any questions you may want to ask and then if we feel you are suitable we would then organise an interview. Your fee is paid as the dog is dropped off. This is a self-employed home-based position, is very flexible and fits around your lifestyle.
