"Making Dogs Happy"
You want to be a PetStay Carer?
PetStay are a company who place dogs with genuine dog lovers, who may or may not have a dog of their own. Our carers are carefully checked and abide to PetStay guidelines, have a secure garden and will treat the dogs as one of their own. Each carer have years of experience looking after dogs. Most are licensed and all have public liability insurance.
This idea has come from years of not wanting to put our two dogs, Cassie and Lucy in to kennels. We believe this is a safe, secure solution to lots of other dog owners.
How are your carers vetted?
Each carer must be a genuine dog lover, retired people, or people who spend a lot of time at home. The carer is first interviewed in their own home, with a detailed application form being filled out. We make sure they have a secure garden and they agree to our guidelines. If we feel they have met all of PetStay Criteria, then each carer is inspected by the local council.
How many dogs can I look after?
This is a one-to-one service, no other dog will be taken from another household at the same time that you are caring for one of PetStay dogs. Carers are only allowed up to three dogs, at any one time and must be from the same household.
Do I have to provide the food and treats?
No, the owner will bring their dogs food and any treats for the duration of their stay. Any toys, bedding, medication, collar and leads and anything they think that the dog/s will need.
Do the dog/s have to be vaccinated?
Yes, each dog must have up to date vaccinations and be wormed. Proof of the vaccination will have to be shown on their first visit to you, each carer will have to check it.
What about exercising ?
All dogs will be taken out each day for walks, you will discuss this with the owner, and try to keep to their routine. The dog will only be exercised on their leads.
What if the dog becomes ill?
We would endeavour to contact the owner. On the owners booking form we ask for a next of kin and also the name of their vets. The dog would go to their usual vet, or in an emergency to the carers nearest vets. The owner will be liable for any expenses.
What happens next?
If you match our criteria, then we would organise to interview you in your own home. We would ask you some question about you, and your dog experience, and check out your garden. This is a self-employed position, references are required and you need to be licensed.
