How are your carers vetted?
Each carer must be a genuine dog lover, and are usually retired people, or people
who spend a lot of time at home. The carer is first interviewed in their own
home, with a detailed application form being filled out. We make sure they have
a secure garden and they agree to our guidelines. If we feel they have met all
of PetStay criteria and we would be happy leaving our two dogs with them, then
each carer is inspected by the local council.
Will my dog be the only one with the carer?
Yes, this is a one-to-one service, no other dog will be taken from another household.
If you have two or three dogs, the carer would look after them together. Carers
are only allowed up to three dogs, but they must be all from the same household.
What will I have to take, when I drop off
my dog?
You will bring all your dogs food and any treats for the duration of their stay.
Any toys, bedding, medication, collar and leads and anything you think that
they will need while you are away.
Does my dog have to be vaccinated?
Yes, your dog must have up to date vaccinations and be wormed. Proof of the
vaccination will have to be shown to the carer. We can only take dogs that adhere
to this. Take this on your first visit.
What about exercising my dog?
All dogs will be taken out each day for walks, you will discuss this with your
carer, they will try to keep to your routine. Your dog will only be exercised
on their lead. Dogs will have the carers own tag, with contact details displayed.
What
if my dog is ill while I’m away?
We would endeavour to contact you. On your booking form we ask for a next of
kin and also the name of your vets. They would go to your usual vet, or in an
emergency to the carers nearest vets. It would be best to inform your vet of
this.
What happens next?
Before you send in the booking form, ring PetStay, we would then, arrange for
you and your dog/s to visit the carer that we think would best suit your dog.
If you are happy, then fill in the booking form and return it to PetStay with
the booking fee. We cannot accept any bookings until we have received the filled
out booking form and booking fee. Please see the price list. If you're planning
a holiday or trip, we suggest you book as soon as possible.
