A Carers Review

A PetStay CarerEvery dog is different and so is every owner. Over the past year and a half since my family has been with PetStay, we have welcomed a wonderful variety of our four-legged friends to stay with us in our home. As a dog lover myself, I enjoy meeting each dog and getting to know them. I also appreciate the flexibility which it brings. Molly, my Chocolate Labrador, is a very accommodating co-worker and hostess…! I can not recommend PetStay highly enough to potential carers and dog owners alike.

Norfolk- Carer Kevin and I have had dogs all our married life, usually rescue ones! When our last little dog Monty a jack Russell x Lakeland terrier passed away at the grand age of 17 years we were devastated, we decided that we wouldn’t have another dog as we were both past retirement age and were afraid another dog would outlive us plus the fact that losing all our dogs has been so painful each time. When we saw the advertisement for PetStay it seemed that was a perfect way to get our “doggy fix” without the long term commitment of owning another dog, it has been brilliant, we have met some wonderful people and wonderful dogs! We have repeat bookings so we get to see them on a regular basis which is very rewarding, if you are thinking about joining PetStay, they will give you all the support and information needed.

“I’ve been a dog owner all my life but sadly lost my own dog in the summer of 2014. Since then I’ve always toyed with the idea of having another dog, but now I’m retired I have to admit not having a dog has meant I’ve been able to go on holiday more and have days out without the worry of having to get home to be there for a dog.

So when I saw PetStay’s advert asking for carers it immediately jumped out at me. I rang Chris straight away and after a chat over the phone he arranged to come out and see me at my home.

The first thing that was very evident was not only how professional Chris was from the start but more importantly how the dogs and their welfare are his main priority! After Chris had done his checks on my home, he sat down with me and went through what was involved with being a carer. After our discussion, I was delighted when Chris said he’d love to take me on as one of his carers.
I can’t tell you what a pleasure the whole experience was. Chris really looks after you as a carer and makes sure you’re happy to proceed once you’ve met the dog and their owners. When my first doggy boarder Sam was dropped off with all his worldly goods, we spent a really fun week together. Lots of walks and doggy cuddles and gosh he made me laugh! With his quirky ways and little rituals…they really do tickle you! And after my week with Sam his owners picked him up and it was great to see how happy they were that he’d had as good a holiday as they’d had.

For me the flexibility of being a carer fits my lifestyle perfectly. Having a dog come and stay gives me all the benefits that a dog can bring, and as any other dog lover will know, the company of a dog is second to none. There’s also the exercise of walking a dog, which ensures I stay active.

After my great experience with PetStay, I have now decided to join the team of holiday mums and dads to hopefully give peace of mind to others who may be stressing about having to leave their babies behind when they are unable to take them away with them.
PetStay is an amazing alternative to kennels and Jay jay and I look forward to meeting lots of new friends in the future.

Lynne & Ray
Lynne and Ray are both retired nurses. In January 2016 they lost their beloved white GSD Zeus to illness, and soon found they missed looking after, exercising and caring for a dog. Lynne had read about PetStay Staffordshire and realised this was a perfect way to assist others to enjoy a holiday, in the knowledge that their dog(s) would be having a great time as well. They both love the time with their guests and are grateful for the trust their owners place in them to provide a home from home for their dog(s).
Lynne and Ray say “We get the best of both worlds – providing a loving, caring environment for our holiday guests and getting lots of love and kisses back from them. Also, the exercise helps!”
