Franchise Opportunity
Hi, we’re Chris and Mark and we run Derby’s branch of PetStay. Having both grown up with dogs all our life, it’s always been our aim to take our love of dogs and turn it into a career… and to be actually doing it is a dream come true for both of us.
On taking holidays ourselves it always took plenty of planning to ensure our own dog was well looked after without the need of having to go into a kennel and when Mark’s parents started caring for another branch of PetStay and seeing what they had to offer we knew we had to get involved and bring this much loved alternative to Derby.
At PetStay, we understand that leaving your beloved dog while you’re on holiday is a big decision. That’s why we offer a trusted, home-based alternative to kennels, ensuring your dog enjoys a comfortable stay in a loving environment. With one-on-one care and no mixing of dogs from different households, we provide a stress-free experience tailored to your dog’s needs.
Personalised, Home-from-Home Care – Your dog stays in a cozy, caring home, just like their own.
Solo Boarding Only – We never mix dogs from different families, ensuring a calm and relaxed stay.
Tailored Matching Process – We carefully select the perfect carer for your dog’s personality and routine.
Meet & Greet Before Booking – You and your dog get to visit the carer’s home beforehand to ensure a great fit.
Fully Insured & Licensed – Your peace of mind is our priority, with full insurance and licensing in place.
Ongoing Support – Our team is here to help, offering 24/7 support for both owners and carers.
With PetStay, you can enjoy your time away knowing your furry friend is safe, happy, and being cared for like family.
All our carers love dogs and are experienced dog owners who provide the best care for your pet while you’re away. Each carer is personally interviewed by PetStay to ensure they offer a safe, loving, and comfortable home environment for your dog. We are fully licensed, and our carers are covered by our public liability insurance for your peace of mind.
Some of our carers may have a dog of their own. If your pooch is happy to stay with another friendly dog, we’ll arrange a meet-up so they can get acquainted and see if they’re a good match.
1. Get in Touch – Call or email your local PetStay branch to discuss your dog’s needs and your preferred dates.
2. Learn About PetStay – We’ll explain how PetStay works and guide you through the next steps.
3. Matching Your Dog – We’ll take all the details about your dog and match them with the most suitable carer available.
4. Meet the Carer – We’ll arrange a meeting for you and your dog to meet the carer and ensure a good fit.
5. Ready to Book – If you’re 100% happy with your carer, you’re all set to proceed with your booking.
6. Confirm Your Booking – Complete our online booking form and pay the arrangement fee within 5 days to confirm your booking.
7. Confirmation – You’ll receive an email confirming your booking details.
8. Stress-Free Booking – You’re all set! No worries, just anticipation for your time away.
9. Drop-Off Time – On your dog’s drop-off day, bring their food, bed, toys, and any other essentials to their carer’s home. At this point, you’ll pay the carer’s allowance directly to the carer.
10. Enjoy Your Holiday – Head off on your trip with complete peace of mind knowing your dog is in great hands.

We’re proud to offer our trusted PetStay service in your city, providing local, personalised dog care that ensures your pet feels right at home. With a dedicated PetStay branch in your area, you can enjoy peace of mind knowing your dog will receive the best care from experienced, fully vetted carers who are part of your local community.
Our daily rate is made up of two separate payments: the Arrangement Fee and the Carer’s Allowance. Together, these payments cover the full cost of your dog’s stay, ensuring they receive loving care in a safe and happy home.
Prices listed are per day (or part thereof), except for Bank Holidays, when the Carer’s Allowance is doubled — because we believe our wonderful carers deserve extra for their dedication during these special times!
The Arrangement Fee secures your dog’s booking and is due within five days of meeting your chosen carer. For repeat bookings, this fee must be paid within five days of your requested dates being confirmed by PetStay.
This fee is non-refundable and non-transferable, as it covers the service provided by your local PetStay branch in carefully matching your dog with a suitable carer. It also contributes to essential operational costs, including:
The Carer’s Allowance is a separate payment, made directly to your chosen carer when you drop your dog off for their holiday. On Bank Holidays, this allowance is doubled, reflecting the extra commitment and care our carers provide during these times.
Together, the Arrangement Fee and the Carer’s Allowance make up the full daily rate for your dog’s stay.

You must be a genuine dog lover, have experience of looking after dogs and you need to be home during the day so you have plenty of time to give to the dogs you are caring for. You must have a secure garden and agree to abide by PetStay guidelines. You are allowed to have a dog of your own as long as your dog gets on with other dogs.
If you meet all the requirements listed above, we will come and visit you at your home. We will check the security of the garden, explain PetStay procedures and show you the guidelines each carer needs to follow. If you are happy with everything and we feel you would make a suitable PetStay carer, we would follow up a reference and arrange public liability insurance for you.
Our service is on a one-to-one basis, so only dogs from the same household will stay with you. You are allowed to take up to three dogs from the same household, BUT you choose what you are happy with. We will ask you how many dogs you would like to look after and what sized dog/s you would be happy to care for.
No, the owner will bring any food or treats for the duration of the stay. Any toys, bedding, medication and leads will also be brought.
Yes each dog MUST have up to date vaccinations, have been wormed and treated for fleas. Proof of the vaccinations will be brought to the meeting and shown to you.

We have just back from our holiday. I wanted to say how happy we are with Roobarb staying with June. We got photos of Roobarb looking happy and relaxed. Unlike when she was in kennels.
We are pleased we chose PetStay and June was fantastic with Roobarb. She was amazing and we will definitely be using your services again. Roobarb came home healthy and happy and I had a holiday with peace of mind. So once again. Thank you.
Kate
Karen and Paul who are matched with my dogs Max and Molly are amazing! My dogs have never been so happy in anyone’s care like they are with them. Both Karen and Paul genuinely care about the dogs and that was clear to see when we picked them up
Sam
Louis and Sabie’s midweek holiday! Their first time using PetStay. Their carers were superb and we can’t thank them enough for looking after their needs and giving them plenty of fun, exercise and engagement. We came back to two very happy dogs and a request to visit the carers again!!!! Booked again for January! Thank you PetStay and the Carers for all you have done to make our dogs so welcome.

We were very nervous at anyone looking after Bentley, but after meeting Troy and Clare we were really happy . We received regular updates and pictures , Bentley absolutely enjoyed his stay and will definitely be booking them again. Thank you to PetStay for offering this fabulous service.
Shelley & Phil
We all had an excellent experience with PetStay. Chris was very helpful and despite us not giving much notice to find a sitter for our two dogs, put us in contact with a really lovely couple. We were confident leaving our dogs in the care of Carole and Tony. The dogs seemed to have a fabulous time, were pampered and treated very well. We got lots of updates and photos. Nellie even got to keep a toy she fell in love with. We cannot thank you all enough.
At very short notice Chris managed to find a lovely couple to look after our Dog, whilst we went away. We had a meet and greet and we went on our Holiday knowing our Dog would be really well looked after. We got photos to reassure us he had settled and we have re booked. I would highly recommend to anyone.
Diane
We were able to meet the lovely lady before Pip went to stay, we could see exactly where he’d be living & the surrounding areas for walks etc, During his stay we received updates & photos to put our mind at rest that he was ok, its the first time we’ve used a pet sitter, but I’m sure it won’t be our last!
Debbie
I have used PetStay on a number of occasions and always found the dog sitter caring and loving towards our dogs. We recently had our 18 month old dog stay with Lesley and David and I must admit I was worried as we had never left him before. But I had nothing to worry about, they were fantastic and cared for Arlo as we would off. We had photos every day showing us how he was doing which put use at ease. If we go way again I would definitely use them again. Just amazing people with love for your pets
Amanda
Mark and Chris managed to place our dog with a wonderful carer for our holidays. Their knowledge and understanding of our needs was met perfectly. Would 100% recommend.

Another lovely holiday for Tara with Ruthy & Bill at PetStay. As previously, the booking system & communication went smoothly. Tara had a great time with Ruthy & Bill. She enjoyed lots of walks, activities & cuddles all of which we saw on photos on our daily update. We were able to have a relaxing holiday knowing that she was so well looked after. We would definitely recommend & will be back soon! Thank you.
Claire & Gary
My dogs had a lovely time staying with Claire and Troy, I was a little nervous as I work from home and they are with me all the time, but Mark placed them with people who also mostly worked from home, and loved good walks so they were perfect for my pups. I received regular photo updates and reassurance and the dogs seemed so happy I was able to enjoy my holiday without worrying. I would definitely use PetStay again, it allows you to relax knowing your pets are being well looked after and loved. Thank you!
Jessica
Lesley and Dave were amazing hosts to our dog. Knowing we were leaving him in a warm, happy and caring environment made all the difference. Thank you so much for taking such good care of him. PetStay were very efficient with all the communication in the lead up to our dog stay too. Thank you.
Vicki
Chris from PetStay was extremely helpful when matching our dog, Tara, with her carers Bill & Ruthy. From arranging an introduction to organising bookings & payments, all went smoothly. Tara had a great time with Bill & Ruthy in their lovely home. She had lots of walks & activities & made herself very much at home. Ruthy kindly updated us with messages & photos which was lovely. Tara returned home happy & relaxed .We felt able to enjoy our break as we knew Tara was being so well looked after & will be happy to leave her again in Bill & Ruthy’s capable hands.
Claire and Gary
I just want to say what an amazing time my two had with their carers Lesley and David, this is about the 4th time they have stayed, I can go on holiday knowing they are being well looked after and their needs are fully met, I wouldn’t use anybody else now and always recommend PetStay to family and friends, they are also very competitive on price too.
Louise
PetStay was a fantastic service and provided the best home boarders for our puppy Maverick! It was the first time leaving him and was only for a little weekend away, but we felt 100% confident and relaxed leaving him with Claire & Tony. They put us at ease after our first meeting with them with how knowledgeable and caring they are! We knew Maverick would be in safe hands. They sent us pictures on walks and kept us updated meaning we could enjoy our time away without worrying. When we collected him, he was excited to see us but seemed content and at home. We will 100% use PetStay again and would love to use Claire & Tony again too as we know Maverick had a great time with them! Thank you!
Samie
This is the 3rd time we have used PetStay for our highly energetic border collie Ollie. Organisation of pre stay visits and communication was good. Clare and Troy were great and very understanding of Ollie’s needs, especially as he needed some medication whilst staying this time. Thanks to everyone.
Rona
Booking through PetStay was swift and straightforward. We were perfectly paired with June – who gave our dog a lovely holiday whilst we enjoyed ours, worry-free. Updates and photos were really reassuring. A positive experience all round.
Had my first booking through PetStay and it went extremely smoothly. They found me a lovely lady called Vicki and she was absolutely fantastic. A home from home which is exactly what I wanted. Thank you
We would highly recommend PetStay Derby. Chris was excellent at getting to know Barnaby and his needs and he placed him with a lovely couple, who looked after him so well. We met them in person before he went to stay which helped put our mind at ease. They look after him like he is their own dog and it was so lovely to get pictures and updates. We have already booked Barnaby’s next stay and it is such a relief to find someone to look after him where we know he will be happy and well looked after. Thanks PetStay Derby.
Rebecca
Just an emailing to say that Vikki was outstanding. Margot was truly looked after and Vikki kept us updated during our holiday on how Margot was settling in. It was extremely hot in the UK whilst we were away, as you are well aware. Vikki again was amazing and also thank you for the information that was passed to Vikki in regards to not walking Margot in hot temperatures. We had a brilliant holiday knowing full well Margot was in excellent care.
We will be highly recommending PetStay to friends and family and we will look to you in the future.
Johnny
Our beautiful fur babies . Had a great time while we were away recently I felt so much better knowing they were being looked after in a home environment. They will be staying again in September. I would highly recommend PetStay. As you have that security knowing your babies are being looked after.
Thankyou to June who had our babies for my daughters wedding and to Paul and Sheila who had them for our holiday. Then back to the lovely June in September.
Well done PetStay and thank you
