PetStay North Lincs & Doncaster Branch

Hi, I’m Pauline and I run the PetStay North Lincolnshire and Doncaster branch. At the moment I don’t have my own dog, but that will hopefully change in the spring when I should be getting a Hovawart puppy.

Having never wanted to put my own dogs into boarding kennels I feel that PetStay provides the perfect alternative. Our loving, carefully selected carers provide the perfect environment to give your dog a happy and fun time while you are away doing the same! All of our carers are carefully selected, are fully insured and provide a safe and secure home-from-home for your precious family member.

When you book with us I will carefully select the best carer for your dog, and PetStay will never mix dogs from different households with one carer.

How it Works

We allow our carers to look after up to three dogs from the same household. When you contact me I will make sure I find out as much as I can about your dog – its character and personality, daily routines, eating, sleeping and exercise arrangements, likes and dislikes and any special requirements.

This takes a little bit of time but ensures that I find the perfect match from among my carers. Once I have decided which carer I feel is the best fit I will arrange for you and your dog to go along and meet the carer in their home. If all goes well and you, your dog and the carer are happy to proceed you will be ready to make your booking.

Frequently Asked Questions about becoming a PetStay Carer

What are the requirements of becoming a carer?

You must be a genuine dog lover, have experience of looking after dogs and you need to be home during the day so you have plenty of time to give to the dogs you are caring for. You must have a secure garden and agree to abide by PetStay guidelines. You are allowed to have a dog of your own as long as your dog gets on with other dogs.

How are your carers vetted?

If you meet all the requirements listed above, we will come and visit you at your home. We will check the security of the garden, explain PetStay procedures and show you the guidelines each carer needs to follow. If you are happy with everything and we feel you would make a suitable PetStay carer, we would follow up a reference and arrange public liability insurance for you.

How many dogs can I look after?

Our service is on a one-to-one basis, so only dogs from the same household will stay with you. You are allowed to take up to three dogs from the same household, BUT you choose what you are happy with. We will ask you how many dogs you would like to look after and what sized dog/s you would be happy to care for.

Do I have to provide the food?

No, the owner will bring any food or treats for the duration of the stay. Any toys, bedding, medication and leads will also be brought.

Does the dog/s have to be vaccinated?

Yes each dog MUST have up to date vaccinations, have been wormed and treated for fleas. Proof of the vaccinations will be brought to the meeting and shown to you.

What about walking the dogs?

All dogs should be taken out each day for walks. When you have your meeting with the owners all routines, including the number and length of walks, will be discussed. The dog is only ever walked on a lead.

What if the dog becomes ill?

We/you would endeavour to contact the owner or the emergency contact. The owner or the emergency contact would be liable for any expenses incurred in taking the dog to the vet.

Will I be paid?

You will receive a daily allowance starting from £13.00 per day.

What happens next?

If you are interested in becoming a carer, please ring us for an informal chat and ask any questions or email us with your details and we will come back to you. You can also use the contact form on the ‘contact us’ tab. If we feel you are suitable we would then arrange to visit you at home.

Our Reviews

Here is a short review of my dogs recent holiday with a PetStay career.

I would definitely class my dogs stay as 5 star!! I was worried, as this was the first time I’d left him whist on holiday. I couldn’t have been more reassured as I left him with the carer and the regular updates by messages or pictures thoroughly reassured me! He was thoroughly pampered and spoilt whilst staying there and when our flight was delayed by 24 hours I knew he was in very good hands and would continue to be expertly cared for. Thank you to PetStay and in particular the family he stayed with who were brilliant! I would have no hesitation in recommending this service.

My dog Truffles is just back from her latest PetStay holiday. She has been beautifully looked after and treated just like I do at home. I would recommend PetStay for your fur baby.

Honey with her carer Heidi

I am so pleased I came across PetStay. Our golden retriever, Honey, is not yet two years old and is a big part of our family, so leaving her in good hands was our priority. Pauline at PetStay was brilliant and found the perfect family to take care of Honey while we were away. Heidi, Martin and family were just perfect! They were so welcoming and really wanted to make Honey’s stay a happy one. We received updates along with photos which were so reassuring. I would highly recommend PetStay and will definitely be using them again!

September 2019

Twinkle & Hamish

This was our first time with PetStay and we were delighted with the service. Christine and Ken really took our dogs(Hamish and Twinkle) as if they were their own. From the first meeting they made us feel at ease and confident the dogs would be very well cared for. I would highly recommend this company to look after your pets, knowing that while you’re on holiday their routine, food , everything stays the same. Christine and Ken are lovely people and their dog Milo became like a big brother to our Hamish! Don’t hesitate, don’t delay….go for it 😃.Thank you PetStay for peace of mind…the Scott family.

August 2019

Mr and Mrs Wilson provided a home to home for our little dog. Up to this year, she has been able to accompany us on holiday but due to unforeseen circumstances we had to make alternative arrangements. We knew that she would not cope in a boarding kennel and thankfully PetStay came to the rescue. I particularly liked the way that PetStay matched carers to dogs/owners. Mr and Mrs Wilson really looked after her and she will be visiting again in the very near future.

August 2019

Poppy & Daisy

Poppy and Daisy have just had another stay with Uncle Ken and Aunty Christine. A loving home from home under the care of knowledgeable ‘doggy people’. Peace of mind secured.

July 2019

Eve & Holly

Just a message to say while we were on holiday we had updates from Pam and Ray and pics of Eve and Holly which made me feel so reassured and happy that my girls were having so much fun and settled with Pam and Ray. So pleased and happy with PetStay and especially with the family that looked after our girls while on hols, will definitely be using again and hopefully with Pam and Ray as I couldn’t have wished for anyone better to look after Eve and Holly, they have been amazing . I was just so happy with everything from start to finish.
