Welcome to PetStay Sheffield, my name is Lauren and I’m here to help local dog owners find a loving and caring alternative to kennels, whilst they enjoy their much-deserved holidays. Our carers will provide that home from home for your beloved friend and treat your dog like their own.
Having been a carer for many years prior to running my own team at PetStay, I understand the importance of finding the perfect holiday home for your beloved pets and that you need peace of mind that they are in the safest of hands
We are licensed and insured to take care of your dog while you are away. Our experienced carers are very carefully selected, meeting the strict criteria set out by Defra and the local authority, and only the most suitable people will be approved to become PetStay carers.
At PetStay we know from experience that your dog will be happier and more settled in their own daily routine, it is my job to find the carer that will be able to most suit your dog’s needs. Any stay will be exclusive to your dog, we never mix dogs from different households and our guest dogs are always walked on the lead.
I will arrange a no obligation meeting for you and your dog to visit your potential carer, so you will see the home and garden your dog will holiday in and you can discuss all elements of the stay.
We will provide a “holiday list” of essentials to be packed to make your dog’s holiday the most comfortable and stress-free as possible, such as toys, food, bedding and not forgetting their favourite treats. Our carers will provide the love, the hugs and cuddles.

How it works
We allow our carers to look after up to three dogs from the same household. If you’re new to PetStay we’ll want to find out as much as we can about your dog – its character and personality, daily routines, eating, sleeping and exercise arrangements, likes, dislikes and any special quirks or requirements.
This helps us find the perfect match from among our carers, and when we’ve done that we’ll arrange for you and your dog to meet the carer in their own home. If all goes well you’re ready to make your first booking. We’ll guide you through the booking process and provide you with a holiday list of essential items you’ll need to pack for your dog’s stay.

Here are the few simple stages of booking with PetStay.
1st: Ring or email your local branch to discuss your dogs requirements and dates.
2nd: We will explain all about PetStay and what your next steps would be.
3rd: We then take all details about your dog and then match them to the most suitable carer.
4th: A meeting will be organised for you and your dog to meet the carer.
5th: If you are 100% happy with your carer you would then be ready to book with PetStay.
6th: No later than 5 days after your initial meeting, complete our on-line booking form and pay the arrangement fee.
7th: An email confirmation will be sent to you.
8th: You’re all booked in and don’t have to worry about anything.
9th: Drop your dog off at the carer’s house with food, a bed. toys and anything else you think they might need.
10th: Go away with complete peace of mind and have a wonderful holiday.
*PetStay Arrangement Fee
Our daily rate is made up of the Arrangement Fee and the Carer’s Allowance. These are 2 separate payments. The Arrangement Fee is a payment to arrange and confirm the booking of your dog’s stay, and is due for payment within 5 days of meeting your dog carer. For a repeat booking the Arrangement Fee is payable within 5 days of your requested dates being confirmed by PetStay.
The Arrangement Fee is non-refundable or non- transferable
The Arrangement Fee is for the service provided by your local PetStay branch in selecting a suitably matched dog carer for you and your dog. The Arrangement Fee also represents a proportion of all the administration and ongoing business costs, including but not limited to, Public Liability and Employer Liability insurance, licensing, recruitment of carers, advertising, 24/7 support to carers, and business documentation giving you peace of mind and your dog a quality home dog boarding experience with PetStay.
The Dog Carer’s Allowance
The Carer’s Allowance is paid direct to the dog carer when you drop your dog off

We do all the hard work! Don’t worry about bookings as we will take care of them. We think it’s important for you to concentrate on all the fun of caring for a guest dog. Frequently Asked Questions about becoming a PetStay Carer
What are the requirements of becoming a carer?
You must be a genuine dog lover, have experience of looking after dogs and you need to be home during the day so you have plenty of time to give to the dogs you are caring for. You must have a secure garden and agree to abide by PetStay guidelines. You are allowed to have a dog of your own as long as your dog gets on with other dogs.
How are your carers vetted?
If you meet all the requirements listed above, we will come and visit you at your home. We will check the security of the garden, explain PetStay procedures and show you the guidelines each carer needs to follow. If you are happy with everything and we feel you would make a suitable PetStay carer, we would follow up a reference and arrange public liability insurance for you.
How many dogs can I look after?
Our service is on a one-to-one basis, so only dogs from the same household will stay with you. You are allowed to take up to three dogs from the same household, BUT you choose what you are happy with. We will ask you how many dogs you would like to look after and what sized dog/s you would be happy to care for.
Do I have to provide the food?
No, the owner will bring any food or treats for the duration of the stay. Any toys, bedding, medication and leads will also be brought.
Does the dog/s have to be vaccinated?
Yes each dog MUST have up to date vaccinations, have been wormed and treated for fleas. Proof of the vaccinations will be brought to the meeting and shown to you.
What about walking the dogs?
All dogs should be taken out each day for walks. When you have your meeting with the owners all routines, including the number and length of walks, will be discussed. The dog is only ever walked on a lead.
What if the dog becomes ill?
We/you would endeavour to contact the owner or the emergency contact. The owner or the emergency contact would be liable for any expenses incurred in taking the dog to the vet.
Will I be paid?
You will receive a daily allowance starting from £13 per day.
What happens next?

For the first time we used the PetStay Sheffield Branch for holiday care of our dog Ernie whilst we were away this year. The service provided was excellent, including the flexibility when our holiday plans changed due to Covid. Ernie was not 100% when his stay came around and both Ann and Lauren did their best to make sure that it was OK for him to stay. Ann went above and beyond in her care for him, really putting my mind at rest whilst we were away. I fully recommend PetStay Sheffield and will definitely be using them again.
Our usual dog care solution is not longer available so we had to find an alternative. Given we have one very timid Border Collie and a rescue…that’s easier said than done. However, we are very pleased with the service from PetStay, the dogs recently had their second stay with the same carer who is fantastic – they recognized where they were and couldn’t wait to get through the gate! On booking, PetStay Sheffield were great, not wanting the deposit until the mid-May step 3 COVID restriction relaxation was confirmed but still reserving the week for us

Just wanted to say a special thank you to you, Trish and John for Jack’s PetStay.
He definitely was looked after brilliantly by Trish and John. It is obvious they have so much experience and love of dogs I cannot praise them enough and also that they put us at ease when leaving Jack for the first time ever with anyone else. So pleased also that a stay could be arranged over the New Year bank holiday.
Would not hesitate to recommend and definitely a very superior and kinder alternative to boarding kennels.

Molly & Charlie
John and Michelle were great. Molly and Charlie were tired out when I picked them up from all their walks and had clearly had a great time. Molly even came back a prettier dog as John had taken the time to groom her – they were obviously pampered during their stay. I was worried about leaving them with new carers as they can be challenging but Michelle’s updates put me at ease. Apparently the next door neighbour fell in love with Charlie too and they all went for walks together.
I highly recommend PetStay. Our dog is so excited to go and get spoilt with lots of care and attention. What I love about PetStay is that they go to someone’s home and the carers only have your dog. No one else’s. so if you have a nervous or slightly reactive dog this set up is perfect.
We’ve never left our dog with anyone other than family members before when we’ve been away. But this time, our normal go to dog sitter relative couldn’t do it , which led us to discover PetStay. From my first communication with Lauren at PetStay, I found everything to be friendly, professional and efficient. Lauren listened to all our needs, and went into fine detail to ensure our dog Remi was matched up with a suitable carer. It’s great that you can meet up with the prospective carers to reassure all parties that all get on before the actual stay. Our dog sitter Sarah was fantastic, we couldn’t have wished for a better match. Remi had a lovely time and was looked after so well. It really did feel like we were leaving our dog with family. We had updates from Sarah reassuring us that all was well, complete with pictures showing Remi having a great time. Next time we go away, we won’t hesitate to use PetStay. And hopefully Sarah will be available to take Remi into her home again.
Carrie was very well cared for by John & Michelle & they said they had enjoyed having her. She was happy to see me, but after saying hello she went back into their garden. She looked so well, they managed her chronic eye condition perfectly 😊 She is staying with them again on 2 occasions in October. I’m sure she’ll be happy to see them 😊
Peaches had a great time recently at Betty & Vince’s. They are a lovely couple, who understood completely Peaches needs and my anxiety at leaving her. She loved exploring the nearby park & the freedom to roam freely in their back garden. She didn’t miss me at all. I would highly recommend Betty & Vince as carers and also Lauren for finding me such a perfect match.
I was very happy with Joanna and her family. They understood exactly Lola’s loveable staffy nature and her need for cuddles. They sent lots of pictures of her enjoying her holiday and chilling out, which made me very reasssured that she was being loved and well cared for.

Keeping your data secure
When you give us personal information we take steps to ensure that it’s treated securely and strive to protect it on our internal systems. We ensure that:
- Up to date antivirus and antimalware is installed on all endpoints across the PetStay franchise and franchisee network.
- Security updates and patches are regularly applied to all components of the PetStay system.
- Access to physical and digital systems within PetStay are restricted to only personal who explicitly need these rights to do their job.
We use Transport Layer Security (TLS) to encrypt and protect email traffic in line with government standards. If your email service does not support TLS, you should be aware that any emails we send or receive may not be protected in transit.
