All our carers love dogs and are experienced dog owners who provide the best care for your pet while you’re away. Each carer is personally interviewed by PetStay to ensure they offer a safe, loving, and comfortable home environment for your dog. We are fully licensed, and our carers are covered by our public liability insurance for your peace of mind.
Some of our carers may have a dog of their own. If your pooch is happy to stay with another friendly dog, we’ll arrange a meet-up so they can get acquainted and see if they’re a good match.

2. Learn About PetStay – We’ll explain how PetStay works and guide you through the next steps.
3. Matching Your Dog – We’ll take all the details about your dog and match them with the most suitable carer available.
4. Meet the Carer – We’ll arrange a meeting for you and your dog to meet the carer and ensure a good fit.
5. Ready to Book – If you’re 100% happy with your carer, you’re all set to proceed with your booking.
6. Confirm Your Booking – Complete our online booking form and pay the arrangement fee within 5 days to confirm your booking.
7. Confirmation – You’ll receive an email confirming your booking details.
8. Stress-Free Booking – You’re all set! No worries, just anticipation for your time away.
9. Drop-Off Time – On your dog’s drop-off day, bring their food, bed, toys, and any other essentials to their carer’s home. At this point, you’ll pay the carer’s allowance directly to the carer.
10. Enjoy Your Holiday – Head off on your trip with complete peace of mind knowing your dog is in great hands.

With a dedicated PetStay branch in your area, you can enjoy peace of mind knowing your dog will receive the best care from experienced, fully vetted carers who are part of your local community.
Our daily rate is made up of two separate payments: the Arrangement Fee and the Carer’s Allowance. Together, these payments cover the full cost of your dog’s stay, ensuring they receive loving care in a safe and happy home.
Prices listed are per day (or part thereof), except for Bank Holidays, when the Carer’s Allowance is doubled — because we believe our wonderful carers deserve extra for their dedication during these special times!
The Arrangement Fee secures your dog’s booking and is due within five days of meeting your chosen carer. For repeat bookings, this fee must be paid within five days of your requested dates being confirmed by PetStay.
This fee is non-refundable and non-transferable, as it covers the service provided by your local PetStay branch in carefully matching your dog with a suitable carer. It also contributes to essential operational costs, including:
The Carer’s Allowance is a separate payment, made directly to your chosen carer when you drop your dog off for their holiday. On Bank Holidays, this allowance is doubled, reflecting the extra commitment and care our carers provide during these times.
Together, the Arrangement Fee and the Carer’s Allowance make up the full daily rate for your dog’s stay.

You must be a genuine dog lover, have experience of looking after dogs and you need to be home during the day so you have plenty of time to give to the dogs you are caring for. You must have a secure garden and agree to abide by PetStay guidelines. You are allowed to have a dog of your own as long as your dog gets on with other dogs.
If you meet all the requirements listed above, we will come and visit you at your home. We will check the security of the garden, explain PetStay procedures and show you the guidelines each carer needs to follow. If you are happy with everything and we feel you would make a suitable PetStay carer, we would follow up a reference and arrange public liability insurance for you.
Our service is on a one-to-one basis, so only dogs from the same household will stay with you. You are allowed to take up to three dogs from the same household, BUT you choose what you are happy with. We will ask you how many dogs you would like to look after and what sized dog/s you would be happy to care for.
No, the owner will bring any food or treats for the duration of the stay. Any toys, bedding, medication and leads will also be brought.
Yes each dog MUST have up to date vaccinations, have been wormed and treated for fleas. Proof of the vaccinations will be brought to the meeting and shown to you.
All dogs should be taken out each day for walks. When you have your meeting with the owners all routines, including the number and length of walks, will be discussed. The dog is only ever walked on a lead.
We/you would endeavour to contact the owner or the emergency contact. The owner or the emergency contact would be liable for any expenses incurred in taking the dog to the vet.
You will receive a daily allowance starting from £19 per day.

I just wanted to say the whole experience with PetStay was really good. From finding a suitable pet sitter for Alfie, to meeting Denise and handing Alfie over. As Alfie is a rescue dog he is very nervous and frightened of a number of things. This was the first time we have left him. Denise was reassuring and we had full confidence in her. Shean takes such good care of our labradoodle Bertie. Long walks, plenty of play and stimulation, lots of affection. Bertie also needs clear boundaries and down time and Shean provides this too. If you’re lucky enough to get a booking with Shean, she gets very booked up, grab it and go on holiday knowing your dog is having a lovely time till you return.

It is the first time we have used PetStay and have been very impressed with the efficiency of this company. We were anxious leaving our Cavapoo for the first time, we didn’t need to worry she was looked after impeccably by John & Francis in Wetherby. We have used PetStay for years now and when in between owning our own dogs for a couple of years we were carers for them ourselves for a while. I don’t honestly think I would ever be happy leaving our dogs with anyone else, PetStay take great care in matching both you and your dogs with the carers and you even get the opportunity to meet the carers in their own home with your dogs, prior to committing to a first booking. We recently moved to Scarborough from the Leeds area, but we do love one carer in particular, Val who is in Leeds! so much so, that whenever possible we will try and book Val first. Even before going to our local PetStay service! Albeit our new local carers are equally excellent, it’s just that our dogs have established such a good rapport with Val that they even look sad to have to go home with us again! Typical spoiled grandkids routine! Which we again love! and which gives us such reassurance that they are well cared for whilst we are away.

This was Henry our golden retriever’s first stay away from home. We were very anxious but Alison and Ian put our minds at rest and updated us as to how Henry was later that day. He took everything in his stride thanks to the welcome he received and how well he was looked after. Organising this stay and his next visit was straightforward – knowing Alison and Ian loved having Henry to stay, he will no doubt have a great time later this year.
