Hi! I’m Amanda, the owner of PetStay Leicestershire and Rutland. 6 years ago I became a carer for PetStay, and my family and I have made many new furry friends.
I grew up in our beautiful countryside and over the years I have had many family pets; pony, goat, rabbits, birds, hamsters, ferret, and I have also owned my own dog. At present my family has a gorgeous green-winged macaw. As an animal lover, I fully appreciate how much owners care about their dogs and how important it is that they feel confident that they are in the best and safest hands.
At PetStay, we understand that leaving your beloved dog while you’re on holiday is a big decision. That’s why we offer a trusted, home-based alternative to kennels, ensuring your dog enjoys a comfortable stay in a loving environment. With one-on-one care and no mixing of dogs from different households, we provide a stress-free experience tailored to your dog’s needs.
Personalised, Home-from-Home Care – Your dog stays in a cozy, caring home, just like their own.
Solo Boarding Only – We never mix dogs from different families, ensuring a calm and relaxed stay.
Tailored Matching Process – We carefully select the perfect carer for your dog’s personality and routine.
Meet & Greet Before Booking – You and your dog get to visit the carer’s home beforehand to ensure a great fit.
Fully Insured & Licensed – Your peace of mind is our priority, with full insurance and licensing in place.
Ongoing Support – Our team is here to help, offering 24/7 support for both owners and carers.
With PetStay, you can enjoy your time away knowing your furry friend is safe, happy, and being cared for like family.
All our carers love dogs and are experienced dog owners who provide the best care for your pet while you’re away. Each carer is personally interviewed by PetStay to ensure they offer a safe, loving, and comfortable home environment for your dog. We are fully licensed, and our carers are covered by our public liability insurance for your peace of mind.
Some of our carers may have a dog of their own. If your pooch is happy to stay with another friendly dog, we’ll arrange a meet-up so they can get acquainted and see if they’re a good match.
1. Get in Touch – Call or email your local PetStay branch to discuss your dog’s needs and your preferred dates.
2. Learn About PetStay – We’ll explain how PetStay works and guide you through the next steps.
3. Matching Your Dog – We’ll take all the details about your dog and match them with the most suitable carer available.
4. Meet the Carer – We’ll arrange a meeting for you and your dog to meet the carer and ensure a good fit.
5. Ready to Book – If you’re 100% happy with your carer, you’re all set to proceed with your booking.
6. Confirm Your Booking – Complete our online booking form and pay the arrangement fee within 5 days to confirm your booking.
7. Confirmation – You’ll receive an email confirming your booking details.
8. Stress-Free Booking – You’re all set! No worries, just anticipation for your time away.
9. Drop-Off Time – On your dog’s drop-off day, bring their food, bed, toys, and any other essentials to their carer’s home. At this point, you’ll pay the carer’s allowance directly to the carer.
10. Enjoy Your Holiday – Head off on your trip with complete peace of mind knowing your dog is in great hands.

Our daily rate is made up of two separate payments: the Arrangement Fee and the Carer’s Allowance. Together, these payments cover the full cost of your dog’s stay, ensuring they receive loving care in a safe and happy home.
Prices listed are per day (or part thereof), except for Bank Holidays, when the Carer’s Allowance is doubled — because we believe our wonderful carers deserve extra for their dedication during these special times!
The Arrangement Fee secures your dog’s booking and is due within five days of meeting your chosen carer. For repeat bookings, this fee must be paid within five days of your requested dates being confirmed by PetStay.
This fee is non-refundable and non-transferable, as it covers the service provided by your local PetStay branch in carefully matching your dog with a suitable carer. It also contributes to essential operational costs, including:
The Carer’s Allowance is a separate payment, made directly to your chosen carer when you drop your dog off for their holiday. On Bank Holidays, this allowance is doubled, reflecting the extra commitment and care our carers provide during these times.
Together, the Arrangement Fee and the Carer’s Allowance make up the full daily rate for your dog’s stay.

You must be a genuine dog lover, have experience of looking after dogs and you need to be home during the day so you have plenty of time to give to the dogs you are caring for. You must have a secure garden and agree to abide by PetStay guidelines. You are allowed to have a dog of your own as long as your dog gets on with other dogs.
If you meet all the requirements listed above, we will come and visit you at your home. We will check the security of the garden, explain PetStay procedures and show you the guidelines each carer needs to follow. If you are happy with everything and we feel you would make a suitable PetStay carer, we would follow up a reference and arrange public liability insurance for you.
Our service is on a one-to-one basis, so only dogs from the same household will stay with you. You are allowed to take up to three dogs from the same household, BUT you choose what you are happy with. We will ask you how many dogs you would like to look after and what sized dog/s you would be happy to care for.
No, the owner will bring any food or treats for the duration of the stay. Any toys, bedding, medication and leads will also be brought.
Yes each dog MUST have up to date vaccinations, have been wormed and treated for fleas. Proof of the vaccinations will be brought to the meeting and shown to you.
All dogs should be taken out each day for walks. When you have your meeting with the owners all routines, including the number and length of walks, will be discussed. The dog is only ever walked on a lead.
We/you would endeavour to contact the owner or the emergency contact. The owner or the emergency contact would be liable for any expenses incurred in taking the dog to the vet.
You will receive a daily allowance starting from £19 per day.
If you are interested in becoming a carer, please ring us for an informal chat and ask any questions or email us with your details and we will come back to you. You can also use the contact form on the ‘contact us’ tab. If we feel you are suitable we would then arrange to visit you at home.
Billy has had another fantastic relaxed and happy weekend with Sally. Not once are we concerned whilst Billy is in her care. Updates are given all through the time we were apart. Couldn’t put my trust in anyone any more than with Sally….. she loves our boy as if he were her own…. And it’s clear to see.
Donna
Sally has been fantastic looking after Bailey for us again this year. She’s absolutely brilliant at looking after her and caring for her needs and from the regular pictures, videos and updates we get from Sally we know that Bailey settles in so well there
Mike
Sally makes it so easy to leave Kylo in her care when we are away on holiday. She is well organised and check in is always so easy. We receive updates every day, including photos and videos, which gives us piece of mind when we are away. Kylo clearly loves his time with them as he runs in and is never in a hurry to come away either. Sally keeps in touch with us not just when Kylo is here, so we always feel welcome when we get to her home.
Mike & Debby
Piper is a bundle of energy—she’s playful, a little bit hyper, but full of love. Sally and her husband Roger treated her like their own, showing such patience, kindness, and genuine affection. It was clear from the updates and how relaxed and happy Piper was when she returned home that she had been in the best hands. It’s always a little nerve-wracking leaving your pet, but knowing she was being cared for with such dedication made all the difference. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Sally to anyone and will definitely be coming back the next time I need a sitter and she has availability. Thank you for having such a wonderful person on your team.
Laura
She has been amazing from the first time we met her, very positive and clearly cares a great deal for all the dogs she looks after. Because it had been so long since we originally went to see her, she offered another visit in November which we took. I thought that this was such a good idea and showed again how much she wants to make sure their stays are a positive experience. She asked for a day in the life of which we did and Ronnie was so happy to see her when we dropped him off. She sent me some lovely photos and videos and we kept in touch throughout his stay which was great and made us feel really comfortable that he was having such a good time. He’s fussy and doesn’t always eat straightaway but Sally came up with lots of ideas to encourage him, which worked a treat. It was clear when we picked him up how happy he had been and how comfortable he was in their care and home. Honestly can’t thank her enough, she was amazing
Debbie
From the start it was like dropping Kylo with an old friend. He went straight into the garden and was playing. After that he made himself at home and settled on the living room sofa.
Sally would send us a full update on Kylo, including photos and videos. He was on medication following a grass seed infection and Sally dispensed meds for us together with putting on his protective boot when going for a walk.
We were out of the country and we felt very comfortable leaving Kylo with them, knowing that he would be well looked after.
As you know we are booked in with Sally again next year and would be more than happy to recommend her and PetStay

Sally and Roger are lovely, Tilly and Roxy have stopped with them twice this year. They can remember where Sally and Roger live and are jumping up at the door eager to see them . My dogs come home happy, clean and stress free. I have used PetStay for many years and would greatly recommend it.
Lorraine
Banjo has ‘holidayed’ with Sally a number of times now, and we couldn’t happier. Not the easiest to please, our Chihuahua always has a fun stay and is made to feel one of the family. Sally sends regular updates which keep us informed and relaxed and we couldn’t recommend her highly enough. Banjo’s home from home.

We have no hesitation leaving Muffin with Chris and John. They are the best! We are completely at ease as they treat Muffin as one of their family which means so much to us when we are away. They are also wonderful people. Thank you so much.
Michael
I can’t begin to describe how grateful I feel having registered with PetStay- being on my own I rarely go away for a full week or fortnight and if I do it’s camping with Joe my dog as I am a part-carer for my mum who’s 92. So having your support for hospitalisation, or a short respite break of 2 or 3 days where I can restore my balance, is invaluable

I just wanted to message to say how amazing Sally and Roger are. Maisie has just had her two week holiday with them and it’s been so reassuring to know that the little diva-head has been so brilliantly cared for, especially during the mini heatwave last week. Sally and Roger have gone above and beyond every day to make sure Maisie is settled and happy with lovely long early morning walks while it was cool, extra treats, playtime, naps. Plus managing her meds (no small feat!), and her unconventional sleeping arrangements! I can’t thank Sally and Roger enough for their commitment to the role and all they do.

We collected Milo from Hazel at Markfield, after our holidays. Can I just say what a wonderful Lady. Milo has been so at home with her and Douglas. She has sent me text messages to let us know how he was, and how settled he was. He has slept on Hazel’s bed, and had a cuddle just like at home. Thank you so much for organising this. We will certainly be using you again. Hopefully with Hazel.
Thank you

We just wanted to drop you a quick email to say thank you for arranging for Bailey to stay with Sally again for us. It’s always an easy and efficient process, and Bailey loves her time with Sally & Roger. Sally keeps us updated via WhatsApp regularly while we’re away, and we can tell instantly from the photos Sally sends us just how quickly Bailey has settled in. She always looks so happy and at ease. As you know, we’ve already booked Bailey in with Sally again for the same sort of time next year, as she gets booked up so quickly, which is testimony to just what a kind, caring, and experienced home boarder she is.
Kind Regards,
Mike & Nicky
5 Stars and more for Yvonne Casey and PetStay. We would not go anywhere else, Yvonne fills us with stories of Alfie’s antics whilst he enjoys his holiday. We fully appreciate everything Yvonne does for us and Alfie. A very caring lady
Lisa
Never needed to put our dog anywhere before, we were really lucky to come across PetStay on the internet. I made an enquiry and received a speedy reply with lots of information. After doing my homework, PetStay came back to me, they had arranged for us to meet someone who was available to look after our dog. We was quite nervous, wasn’t sure at this point if we were doing the right thing. All our worries disappeared almost immediately on meeting Barry. The visit went really well. From there we made all the arrangements, paid the booking fee felt happier now we knew where our dog was going. Hugo was well cared for during his stay. Barry contacted us a couple of times whilst we were away and included a couple of pictures which was very comforting to know Hugo was okay. We would not hesitate to use PetStay again and would love it if Barry was available again. Hugo really did enjoy his holiday. Thank you Barry
Dawn
I was very pleased how easy it was to arrange a meeting with Sally prior to our holiday break. I’ll certainly stay with PetStay in the future. I felt very happy leaving my dog with her.
Daisy has been to stay with Sally and Roger on several occasions. She is always happy when she arrives at their house, it’s like a second home! They take her on lovely long walks (whatever the weather!) and give her lots of fuss and attention. I know they would do anything she needed, whether that’s getting up for her in the night, letting her sleep on the sofa or dealing with medical issues. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Sally and Roger if you want your dog to be in a loving and caring home while you’re away

From the get go, Sally was great to chat with about Lulu’s care at our initial meeting. She was very thorough to ensure that Lulu would feel at home. I really loved getting daily pupdates and pictures throughout her stay.
Eventhough Lulu had some issues with getting settled at night and sleeping, Sally was always kind in her messages. She always reassured me that she was still having a good time looking after Lulu, despite some hiccups.
It was Lulu’s birthday whilst I was away, and Sally sent a lovely picture of a little celebration. She also sent lots of pictures of their walks, and I was so pleased to see how happy Lulu looked. I can tell Sally really loves what she does with the service.
Thanks,
Lauren
I just wanted to pass on a huge thank you! The boys had a wonderful stay at Sally’s. They settled in very quickly and I had some great pup-dates whilst I was away. I would use Sally’s services again in a heartbeat and recommend her to anyone who needs home from home care for their beloved fur babies whilst away! She even bought them an Easter Egg.
Denise & Iain took great care of Sam & Holly and we are so happy to of been matched to them lovely caring couple who clearly love dogs, they where so well looked after and they can’t wait to stay again for another holiday in a few weeks! Thank you so much we feel very happy to go away and leave them in safe hands.
Mr Harris
Booking with PetStay is straight forward and everything is confirmed back by email. Andrea is amazing with our dogs so we feel totally confident when we go away that they are being very well looked after. Andrea sends updates and photos whilst we are away and the dogs always look very happy. Brilliant service and lovely people.
