PetStay Herefordshire, Worcestershire & Monmouthshire Branch
Hello, I’m Derry and I am delighted to have taken over the PetStay franchise of Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Monmouthshire.
I enjoy living within the area, as I am within easy access of all three counties. I love walking in the beautiful countryside especially mountain walking in Monmouthshire and hill walking in Worcestershire and the Cotswolds.
I have worked in social care for 30 years as a Senior Manager, but recently I began to think about an alternative career and a new direction. I knew I wanted to do something that; provided me with the freedom to be my own boss, gave me flexibility and to be able to work from home- allowing me to spend more time with my family and of course my dog. After finding out about PetStay and its great ethos, PetStay felt like the right option for me.
I love dogs, they have been an important part of my life and I can’t imagine not having a dog around me. Having grown up with dogs all my life, I understand how important it is to know your dog is loved and cared for and their routines are maintained whilst you are away.
The dog in the picture is “Dooby” my precious 12-year-old German Wirehaired Pointer. He is a fantastic Dog and a great pal who loves life. His favourite things are chasing a ball, going in water, children and going for walks-though hill walking now is limited given his advancing years – but he will still give it a go, albeit – slowly!
Pet Stay will provide you with a professional, loving & caring alternative to placing your beloved dog in kennels.
Every PetStay Carer is carefully selected to provide the best possible experience for your dog/s. All our Carers are fully insured, assessed and licensed by local councils.
We pride ourselves on having great knowledge and experience in matching dogs with the perfect carer, giving you peace of mind whilst you are away on holiday or perhaps business.
When you contact us, we will discuss your dog/s and your requirements, then we will select a suitable carer to meet your needs, and arrange for you and your dog/s to visit and meet with them to ensure that you are completely happy with the arrangements prior to any booking being confirmed.
Once that’s done you can go away and relax secure in the knowledge that your dog is in the best possible place and will enjoy his/her break whilst you are away.

Frequently Asked Questions about becoming a PetStay Carer
What are the requirements of becoming a carer?
You must be a genuine dog lover, have experience of looking after dogs and you need to be home during the day so you have plenty of time to give to the dogs you are caring for. You must have a secure garden and agree to abide by PetStay guidelines. You are allowed to have a dog of your own as long as your dog gets on with other dogs.
How are your carers vetted?
If you meet all the requirements listed above, we will come and visit you at your home. We will check the security of the garden, explain PetStay procedures and show you the guidelines each carer needs to follow. If you are happy with everything and we feel you would make a suitable PetStay carer, we would follow up a reference and arrange public liability insurance for you.
How many dogs can I look after?
Our service is on a one-to-one basis, so only dogs from the same household will stay with you. You are allowed to take up to three dogs from the same household, BUT you choose what you are happy with. We will ask you how many dogs you would like to look after and what sized dog/s you would be happy to care for.
Do I have to provide the food?
No, the owner will bring any food or treats for the duration of the stay. Any toys, bedding, medication and leads will also be brought.
Does the dog/s have to be vaccinated?
Yes each dog MUST have up to date vaccinations, have been wormed and treated for fleas. Proof of the vaccinations will be brought to the meeting and shown to you.
What about walking the dogs?
All dogs should be taken out each day for walks. When you have your meeting with the owners all routines, including the number and length of walks, will be discussed. The dog is only ever walked on a lead.
What if the dog becomes ill?
We/you would endeavour to contact the owner or the emergency contact. The owner or the emergency contact would be liable for any expenses incurred in taking the dog to the vet.
Will I be paid?
You will receive a daily allowance starting from £15 per day.
What happens next?
If you are interested in becoming a carer, please ring us for an informal chat and ask any questions or email us with your details and we will come back to you. You can also use the contact form on the ‘contact us’ tab. If we feel you are suitable we would then arrange to visit you at home.

Monty the spaniel had a fab stay in Worcestershire came home full of energy and Springerness!!!
Becci looked after Rosie as though she was one of her own, she enjoyed a week with her spaniel Buzz, would recommend Becci to look after anyones dog.
We have been using Petstay regularly for three years. We have used a few different carers and they have all been fabulous. Our dog never wants to leave her new friends! We are so grateful to be able to leave her with people we trust when we go away.
It’s was the longest we would have been apart from our puppy so I felt quite anxious. Ken and Jacqui put me at ease and were delightful with Truffle. We arrived to pick her up to find a very happy, relaxed and warm welcome. Truffle had a wonderful time and we can’t thank Ken and Jacqui enough!!!!!! So so pleased with Pet Stay! Pleased
This was the first time our dogs Sandy (labrador, 7yrs) and Jonah (dobermann x rhodesian ridgeback, 5yrs) stayed away from our house. From the very first contact with the agent everything was professional. Kersti helped us find a dog sitter with experience in looking after large breed dogs. When we visited Sally, we were immediately put at ease as she knew just how to make friends with the very sensitive Jonah (by ignoring him initially and letting him come to her).
Both dogs were happy and well looked after when we picked them up at the end of their stay. We will be using PetStay again.
“Dex recently stayed with Phil for the second time and we had no concerns at all leaving him as he was so well cared for the first time. Phil is experienced with dogs and very calm and natural around them. Dex had another fabulous stay, lots of lovely walks and he was relaxed and happy when we collected him. Dex had a lovely time again and I was so much more relaxed this time as I knew he was in good hands. Thank you so much for providing this service Lorraine. Highly recommended! ”
Alfie & Maddy
“Alfie & Maddy stayed with Philip and his dogs. They had an excellent time, well looked after. We have used Phillip twice now and would definitely use again.” John, Maddy & Alfie
“I would highly recommend PetStay and would definitely use their services again. Lorraine was very helpful and went the extra mile to get my puppy a suitable carer and Phillip was the perfect host. It was reassuring meeting in advance of the stay and the paperwork was very thorough. I had no concerns that Purdy would not be very well looked after. When I picked her up at the end of the stay she looked so at home it was a shame to take her! We’re so glad we found out about PetStay. ”
“We would like to thank Celia and John for looking after our beloved greyhound, Ava when my husband and I attended a friend’s wedding in Berlin. We had a meet-and-greet before Ava’s stay and Celia was really careful to take a note of Ava’s likes and dislikes (including which sofa she would like sleep on !). We really liked the fact that Ava was being cared for in such a lovely home by such lovely people whose first and foremost concerns were for the well-being of the dog. Ava had a thoroughly lovely time (probably snoozing her way through most of it) and we wouldn’t hesitate to use PetStay again. ”
Ozzy & Pippin
“Our two dogs spent four days with Kate recently and we were very reassured that they were in excellent hands. They settled in quickly and we received messages to let us know how they were. When we went to collect them they were calm and completely at home! ”
Romaine & Ian, Hereford
Max & Bailey
“Mine and my sisters dogs have just returned from staying 2 nights with Kate, we were a little worried as they haven’t stayed with anybody before that isn’t family. But they had the best time and Kate was so lovely and our dogs Max and Bailey had the best time they didn’t want to come home ha-ha. I would really recommend PetStay and we will be leaving our dogs with Kate again in April next year when I get married.”
“Norma provided Roxy with a home from home experience. Roxy is a very nervous pooch so we needed to be sure she was placed in the correct place and Norma’s home was just that, and we thank her from the bottom of our heart ❤️. We will use Norma again x”
“We are the owners of a beautiful silver standard poodle puppy, Poppy. We had planned to send her to kennels like our previous dogs. However we soon realised that she needed company and could become anxious if left alone for too long. We decided to evaluate alternatives. We contacted Petstay and were introduced to Norma. We spent a couple of hours with her and they really hit it off with one another. Poppy did a trial sleep over and arrangements were made for her to stay while we were away. We have never looked back Norma is brilliant with Poppy, she receives loads of love and nothing is too much trouble. She will be back there in September and we know she is safe and cared for. Just don’t take my place in the queue.”
“Henry stayed with Eddie and Karen for three days. They kept us informed of his wellbeing and even sent a lovely photo of him playing with their dogs. He thoroughly enjoyed his stay and was in two minds whether he wanted to come home with us at the end !! I would definitely use them again.”
“We were really impressed with the care and attention to detail our Pet Stay carer, Celia, showed when looking after our little JRT. Celia was meticulous in finding out everything she could about Charlie’s routine, and genuinely was concerned to follow our guidance to the letter. We know that he’s not the easiest of dogs to care for…a typical stubborn terrier, but we were really confident and happy to leave him in Celia’s capable and kind hands! We would definitely recommend Pet Stay. It’s a really professional service with a very personal and friendly approach. Thank you.”
“This worked so well for us Pet stay are a very professional team, finding us the perfect carer for our 11 year old Staffie. We have tried other companies in the past but pet stay is by far the best. Thank you Norma for giving our Kass lots of love and cuddles while we were away. Would definitely recommend. ”
Pam has looked after Poppy for us for the last 2 weeks while we have been on holiday. I cannot thank you enough for putting us in touch with Pam, she is a lovely lady who has looked after Poppy as if she were her own. Poppy has had lots of wonderful walks and Pam has sent us some lovely pictures of Poppy while we have been away to reassure us that Poppy is happy, relaxed and settled. This has meant the world to us knowing Poppy is happy and has enabled us to relax and enjoy our holiday. We would definitely recommend Pet stay and Pam and to anyone who is worried about leaving a much loved pet there is no need to worry with Pam looking after them!
Charlie & Alfie
“After a bad experience with another dog holiday company, we were cautious about using Pet Stay. I have to say after our initial meeting with Celia & John we were more than happy for Charlie and Alfie to stay with them both. We would like to thank Celia and John for looking after Charlie & Alfie so well while we were away on holiday.”
Ann & Mark
“Really pleased with this service and thrilled with our little Brambles’ carer Pam, she was fantastic and he didn’t want to leave on collection. Would recommend and will be using for future stays!”
Ella & Brambles
“Lola, our lovely Beagle stayed in a kennel during our last holiday and we were less than impressed when we picked her up. After this we decided to use a home boarding – which was the best decision we have made. Lola was matched to a lovely lady, Celia, who treated her like family, keeping her routine the same as we had at home. We received email updates and pictures on how Lola was doing which was very reassuring while we were away. We will definitely use this service again – everyone we spoke to was lovely and welcoming and we most importantly knew our pooch was well looked after while we were away. 5* service we would recommend to anyone needing to leave their dog.”
Neil & Steph
“Archie has found a home from home with Celia and John, it’s great to know you can have complete confidence in your carers and what’s more they seem to genuinely like having Archie which is so nice to know.”
John, Nicky & Archie
We board our dog with the lovely Pam. From the moment she arrives she is made to feel like one of the family and we receive regular updates on how she is doing and photos by text. We feel relieved that she is in safe hands’ with a petstay carer.
Lorraine & Gary
Alfie & Maddy
“Alfie & Maddy stayed with Philip and his dogs. They had an excellent time, well looked after. We have used Phillip twice now and would definitely use again.”
John, Carol, Alfie & Maddy
“Just like to say how pleased we were with Eddie and Karen’s care of Henry. They gave us all a very warm welcome on our initial visit and Henry was instantly at ease with them and their two lovely dogs. He didn’t want to come home with us when we arrived to pick him up, he walked back into their house!!! I would definitely use them again. Thank you for arranging the stay.”
“I am delighted with the service from PetStay. Celia and John cared for our Border Terrier Paddy with love and kindness .It was his second visit and he was very happy to see them.its wonderful to know your pet is being looked after so well while we’re away”
“Norma was the perfect pet carer for our Benz. On meeting Norma, we felt confident that our dog was in very good hands. We will definitely use her again. PetStay were professional in all our communication. An excellent experience.”
Angus & Jacqui
“We would like to thank Celia and John for looking after our beau boy, from our initial meeting beau seemed content and relaxed in their home and company, we were a little worried because he is used to being mostly lead free, but seemed quite content when we arrived to take him home, in fact he jumped back out of the car back into their home. Celia and John are a lovely pairing as far as we are concerned. Thanks David, Nina and of course beau boy.”
David & Nina
“Baxter had a lovely time with Pam and we really enjoyed seeing the pictures she sent us whilst we were away. It was so reassuring to know that he was happy and well looked after.”
We had a great holiday and it was helped by knowing that Stanley was being well cared for.
We are grateful to you for your help to find a loving home for Stan when our original plans fell apart at the last minute. It was a worrying time just before our holiday but as soon as we met Phil we had confidence in him. The environment was just perfect for Stan and I know that he loved playing and running with Phil’s lovely golden retriever, Meg. Phil had a very calm, friendly, common sense approach and Stan obviously liked him and enjoyed his stay. Thank you Lorraine and Phil for ensuring Stan was safe and happy whilst we were away. Jennie
“Looking for somewhere to send Bumble on holiday, we decided to contact PetStay who then put me in touch with Celia and John. Turned out to be a wonderful combination between them and Bumble. The whole process done in a very warm, efficient and relaxed manner both by Lorraine at Petstay and the meeting with Celia and John. Bumble, settling in with them very quickly and I got the impression he would have stayed with them when I got back to collect him if he could! All in all I was very impressed and happy with the whole stay and would be only too happy to send him there again. A very warm thank you to Celia and John for looking after him so well.”
“Our mini Dachsund had a wonderful week with his careers. I thoroughly recommend this service and will make use of it again. Lovely to know that our dog was cared for in a caring home environment”
Mandy & Ian
“Tess and Mike were very sensible, easy going and made an excellent job of looking after our dog Bea.”
“Our 10 yr old golden retriever Weston has just had a wonderful 3 day stay with Tess and Mike and we were lucky enough to get updates and photos of him playing with both their dogs and snoozing after a fun packed day! Wonderful to know that he had so much love and attention, and time and energy spent on him! Significantly more than kennels no doubt about it..A very positive first time stay for him so very reassuring for us. Thank you!”
Oscar & Bailey
“My sister and I left our pups Oscar and Bailey with the lovely Eddie and Karen. We were nervous leaving them for the first time but Eddie took the time to reassure us. The pups had a fantastic stay and we enjoyed our holiday with updates from Eddie throughout. Lovely man would defiantly leave our dogs with them again thank you pet stay !! Xx”
“It was good to know Bramble was being looked after by Celia while we were on holiday. The care was excellent and Bramble even learnt how to jump into the back of the car (something we’ve been trying to teach him for a while). I didn’t worry at all while we were away as I was sent frequent snippets of his adventures. Thank you PetStay.”
“What a relief to find someone as lovely as Phillip to leave my dog Cassie with. He has a wonderful way with dogs and Cassie took to him immediately. He was very patient listening to all my details and went out of his way to be accommodating. I picked up a happy, healthy, slimmer and more obedient dog. Thank you, I would love to use you again.”
Keo & Lola
“Lorraine was brilliant and professional from the beginning, the process of meeting our sitter right through to completing the booking was super easy. Our sitter Norma was absolutely lovely, I couldn’t have asked for a nicer person to look after our dogs Lola and Keo. We were a little nervous at first as many people have preconceived perceptions of Staffies but Norma had experience with the breed and they adored each other. Thank you so much Norma for loving them like they were your own. No doubt we will see you again even if it’s for a walk. ”
Becki & Conor
‘We would like to thank Pam our PetStay carer for looking after Troy when we were away on holiday. when we picked Troy up he was looking really well and well looked after and happy so I think he had a good time on his stay. We will defiantly be using them again we were very impressed with the care and time gave Troy once again a big thank you and we will be recommending to our friends’
Mr & Mrs Bryan
“Just picked Ted up from Norma. He was loved and cared for as if he was at home. I have recommended her and petstay to my friends there is nothing like knowing that your pet is well cared for whilst you are enjoying yourself. Thank you Norma you were fantastic”
“I can’t recommend Pet Stay highly enough, in particular our wonderful carer Kate who looked after 3 year old Billy for the week. I felt comfortable that Billy was going to be well cared for in a home environment. I received a few updates during the week which was very reassuring! Excellent service and would definitely use again. ”
“We’ve met and boarded our dog with 2 different carers through PetStay and the experience has been fantastic with both, it’s reassuring for us to know that Lulu is in a safe and happy environment, a real home from home! Thank you!”
I was very impressed with the thoroughness and the assistance received to place my dog, a recently adopted elderly Staffie with arthritis. His foster home was splendid and Pamela took very good care of him. I would use the service again.
I felt so much happier leaving my dog with a PetStay carer. Unlike another company I contacted I was able to meet the person who was going to be looking after my dog and this gave significant peace of mind.
My dog came home happy and healthy and that is the most important thing.
‘Dex was very happy when we collected him on Sunday. We didn’t pause for breath yesterday but I plan to email Phil, his PetStay carer and say thank you again today. I was overwhelmed with relief when I saw Dex on Sunday! It’s the first time we’ve left him with anyone outside the family, so I was worried about him, with no need as it turned out! It was almost as hard as leaving one of my children when they were young but he had a lovely time with Phil and we plan to board him with him again. When Dex got home, he said hello to everyone and then zonked out and stayed like that the rest of the evening!’
Helen & Mark
Thank you for the great first time experience with PetStay. Ben enjoyed the whole holiday and we are very pleased with both carers updating us with messages and photos whilst we were away. It made us feel so much at ease and enjoyable knowing Ben is happy and well looked after. We are looking forwards to more holidays for Ben and have booked him in again already! Thank you
Toi & Rob
Our young dog Betty was looked after by PetStay while we were away for 10 days. She was really well looked after and came home happy and healthy. Would definitely recommend and will be leaving Betty with PetStay again. It’s brilliant to have a pet sitter we trust and our dog loves. Thank you for taking such good care of her.
Jazzy, Gemma, Lizzy & Lulu
We were looking for someone to look after our 4 Chihuahua’s while my wife and I had our first holiday(60th birthday treat) without the dogs, We had visited a number of kennels and home boarders, they were not up to our high standards. Petstay offered a number of home boarders within our area and after visiting them we choose Tracey from Hereford .
Our 4 dogs can be a handful at times but Tracey looked after them perfectly taking them for daily walks and plenty of fuss. She updated us regularly by text to tell us how they are getting on.
When we got home after the holiday, we just dropped the suitcases off and rushed to picked up the dogs. Tracey opened her door and 4 very happy little dogs came forward, we sat down in the living room and our 4 dogs went and sat with Tracey(Lulu and Gemma sat on her lap)!!!!!
We could see that the dogs had been looked after very well. Thank you Tracey and “PetStay” for looking after our dogs.
David & Jill
Lottie & Roley
‘We just wanted to say thank you again for looking after Lottie and Roley so well whilst we were away. They were relaxed and happy and in good health on our return, a world apart from their last kennel experience. It was a relief to us to know that they had a nice time whilst we were away. Apologies to your poor dog who had the brunt of Roley’s affections. I’m sure he wasn’t disappointed to finally have peace in his own garden again. Have a lovely summer and thanks again!’
Meg & Tess
Having met Tracey at her home we were absolutely positive that she would be ideal to look after our two girls. What can I say? Tracey and her family were absolutely amazing!! The love, warmth, care and attention they gave our 2 girls was obvious. The girls were so happy, content and obviously enjoyed their time with Tracey, they had been so well looked after, fussed, cuddled and spoilt rotten.
Meet Our Carers
I have a rapidly growing team of carers across Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Monmouthshire. These wonderful carers have cosy dog friendly homes and lots of love to give to give your beloved 4 legged family members whilst you are away. However I still need more people to join my team. If you are at home during the day; have a secure garden; experienced dog owner and a genuine dog lover then please complete the carer enquiry form on the ‘contact us’ page or call Derry on 07341 835 988 for an informal chat.
Here you can meet just a few of my amazing carers (there are many more) and see what they have to say about themselves and why they became PetStay carers:
“Now you will remember the Beast from the East ? This picture is the Best in the West….well, from the Malvern Hills anyway!
Max, our Cairn, is, you can see from the photo, in his element. He is now nearly ten and we, Ken and I, adopted him from a rescue centre nine years ago.
We never really planned a second dog, but as Carers with Petstay, Max and we can enjoy welcoming all sorts of new friends for holiday sleepovers.
We live in a rambling and ancient farmhouse surrounded by fields, woods, hedgerows and copses, so plenty of interesting walking opportunities right on the doorstep.
There is a secure courtyard, perfect for basking in the sunshine or curling up for a nap in the shade of the fig tree. Beyond that is a grassy area just right for playing chase or fetch the ball. For the more curious canine, there is a compost heap and woodshed to explore, particularly loved by terriers.
Ken and I have had all sizes, shapes of dogs in the family during our lives and, since we are both retired, have extra time to enjoy their delights.
A four-legged family friend is extra-special and you may be sure we, and Petstay, have their best interests at heart.
We make every effort to replicate the routines of ‘home’. Security, playtimes, walks and cuddles galore guaranteed as part of the service.
We look forward to meeting you soon,
Max, Ken and Jacqui”
