PetStay Nottingham Branch

Hi, we’re Chris and Mark and we run PetStay Nottingham.

Having brought PetStay to Derby last year we have been overwhelmed with the response and thought it only right that we extend our lovely services into Nottingham too.

By bringing you PetStay Nottingham we’re providing you with a loving and caring alternative to kennels and as PetStay has grown over the 10 years we’ve been operating, we’ve seen a real increase in the number of dogs who are using the home from home environment we provide.

We’re so passionate about having the right carers on board to look after your dogs that not only do we rigorously check all our carers, ensuring they meet guidelines set by DEFRA and the local council.. Also covered by our insurance as well as being experienced dog handlers, we want to ensure you have real peace of mind when leaving your dog(s) to go on holiday.

So please give us a call, whether you’re interested in becoming a carer yourself or looking to give your dog(s) a holiday of their own, we’d love to hear from you.

Chris & Mark, PetStay Nottingham.

Frequently Asked Questions about becoming a PetStay Carer

What are the requirements of becoming a carer?

You must be a genuine dog lover, have experience of looking after dogs and you need to be home during the day so you have plenty of time to give to the dogs you are caring for. You must have a secure garden and agree to abide by PetStay guidelines. You are allowed to have a dog of your own as long as your dog gets on with other dogs.

How are your carers vetted?

If you meet all the requirements listed above, we will come and visit you at your home. We will check the security of the garden, explain PetStay procedures and show you the guidelines each carer needs to follow. If you are happy with everything and we feel you would make a suitable PetStay carer, we would follow up a reference and arrange public liability insurance for you.

How many dogs can I look after?

Our service is on a one-to-one basis, so only dogs from the same household will stay with you. You are allowed to take up to three dogs from the same household, BUT you choose what you are happy with. We will ask you how many dogs you would like to look after and what sized dog/s you would be happy to care for.

Do I have to provide the food?

No, the owner will bring any food or treats for the duration of the stay. Any toys, bedding, medication and leads will also be brought.

Does the dog/s have to be vaccinated?

Yes each dog MUST have up to date vaccinations, have been wormed and treated for fleas. Proof of the vaccinations will be brought to the meeting and shown to you.

What about walking the dogs?

All dogs should be taken out each day for walks. When you have your meeting with the owners all routines, including the number and length of walks, will be discussed. The dog is only ever walked on a lead.

What if the dog becomes ill?

We/you would endeavour to contact the owner or the emergency contact. The owner or the emergency contact would be liable for any expenses incurred in taking the dog to the vet.

Will I be paid?

You will receive a daily allowance starting from £12 per day.

What happens next?

If you are interested in becoming a carer, please ring us for an informal chat and ask any questions or email us with your details and we will come back to you. You can also use the contact form on the ‘contact us’ tab. If we feel you are suitable we would then arrange to visit you at home.

Our Reviews

This is the second time we have used Petstay and I cannot recommend it highly enough. From first contact to when you get home from your holiday communication is fantastic. The carers are amazing and sent photos to reassure us that Rocco was having a great time! Not sure Rocco wanted to come home after all the love he had received!! We will never use kennels again and Petstay will always be our first port of call. Thank you so so much!

The PetStay service was excellent and we can highly recommend it! Laura and Nick cared for Olive so brilliantly I don’t think she wanted to come home! It was great to have the peace of mind that Olive was part of another family while we were away and she loved every minute judging by the photos. An overall positive experience Thank you.

Our old Spanish Podenco can’t keep up with the crazy Pointers anymore so we needed to find him a caring home environment whilst we went to Scotland. As he is 10 we wanted him to have all the home comforts. Our Petstay careers were very understanding and obviously dog lovers. Billie thoroughly enjoyed all the fuss and we had regular text messages and photos whilst we were away. It gives such peace of mind when you know your dog is in a family home instead of kennels. I highly recommend this service!! It was so easy to arrange and the visit to the carers before going away so they can meet your dog is very important.
Excellent service. The chance to visit the foster carers beforehand gave us great peace of mind. The texts and photos were great and reassuring whilst we were on holiday. Chris was very helpful in setting this up for us. I would definitely use this service again!! Billie was well cared for and not at all stressed. He came home happy and relaxed which was wonderful!!

Nottingham- Bertie

Bertie’s fab doggy holiday!!

Recently placed my cockapoo Bertie with Petstay for a last minute holiday, I’ve never left him with anyone other than my parents before so I was really apprehensive to start. The communication with Chris from the very first contact was fantastic, completely placed me at ease and made the whole process really quick & easy. Being able to meet the carer beforehand was excellent, she was extremely lovely and Bertie loved his time there! Cannot recommend Petstay enough, fantastic and I will definitely be using them again!!

We were recommended through a friend of a friend, can’t recommend this service highly enough. Great communication with Chris and our holiday hosts Lynda and Andy. Our Rottweiler is a re home so didn’t want to put her back into a kennel environment. Abbie will definitely be holidaying again with PetStay Nottingham, just so much piece of mind knowing how well they are looked after. Thank-you x

March 2017

We found this leaflet at a Kennelgate Store, as we were desperately seeking to home our Pet Dog Pippa, whilst we went on Holiday to Bruges. Could not thank Chris enough for quickly finding us a super match to home our our dog in a lovely home with a lovely lady. We did so not want to put our dog in the kennels. She was well looked after, and was so pleased that Petstay, relieved us of the pressure of finding someone at short notice. It sure was ideal. Would definitely recommend. All the right questions were asked, and all was dealt with in a professional and friendly manner. Would definitely use Petstay again. Thank You so much for your Kind and Prompt service.

Bane & Bella

We found a poster for Petstay Nottingham on a fence while out walking. We were able to find a carer within short notice which was a big relief. We were very pleased with all aspects of the service provided. We will definitely be using Lynda and Andy again as Bane and Bella definitely enjoyed their ‘holiday’

PetStay was recommended to us by our friend and dog walker. We were going to visit family and friends in the states and needed care for our pup and did not want to leave him in a kennel. We are so happy to have found this service. We were matched with a lovely family who we met before our holiday. Everyone got along great so we were comfortable leaving our baby with Lynda and Andy and their family while we were away. We were able to stay in touch while on our vacation and see pictures of how much Bowson was enjoying his vacation as well. In fact we think he was a bit sad to leave his new extended family on our return. We can’t recommend Chris and his team at PetStay enough. We now feel free to travel knowing that Bowson will have a lovely time too.

Our News

Our first two weeks as PetStay Nottingham

Wow, what a great two weeks we’ve had with the launch of PetStay Nottingham!

Our Facebook posts and word of mouth this week secured our sixth carer to our PetStay family and we couldn’t be more chuffed. Having the right people on board to look after the lovely doggies of Nottingham is paramount and at all times our strict guidelines of interviewing and vetting carers remains. Licensed, insured and vetted not just by us but their local council, we know how important it is that dog owners have full peace of mind when leaving their dogs with someone else. The first thing we always ask ourselves when interviewing a potential carer is would we leave our own dog with this person…it has to be an instant yes for us even to progress them to the next stage of the interview. So the fact we now have six carers on board shows what amazing dog lovers there are out there!

With dates already booked for some of our new Nottingham customers, our first two weeks have been a huge success. It’s now all hands to the marketing pump to get our name across Nottingham and let people know about our loving alternative to kennels.

PetStay’s founder, Carole posted her thoughts this morning about how lucky we all were to be working in the pet industry… and do you know what, how right she is. We count our blessings every day that we get to do this job. Not only meeting fellow dog lovers and hearing all about their own beloved pooches, but it’s the satisfaction we get from bringing this service to the general public, the greatness of meeting people who also work in the pet industry, but first and foremost it’s the pleasure we get from hearing about a dog’s PetStay holiday and how well they got on with one of our wonderful carers… now that… that is more than worth getting up for work in the morning!!!
