Hi, we’re Chris and Mark and we run PetStay Nottingham.

Frequently Asked Questions about becoming a PetStay Carer
What are the requirements of becoming a carer?
You must be a genuine dog lover, have experience of looking after dogs and you need to be home during the day so you have plenty of time to give to the dogs you are caring for. You must have a secure garden and agree to abide by PetStay guidelines. You are allowed to have a dog of your own as long as your dog gets on with other dogs.
How are your carers vetted?
If you meet all the requirements listed above, we will come and visit you at your home. We will check the security of the garden, explain PetStay procedures and show you the guidelines each carer needs to follow. If you are happy with everything and we feel you would make a suitable PetStay carer, we would follow up a reference and arrange public liability insurance for you.
How many dogs can I look after?
Our service is on a one-to-one basis, so only dogs from the same household will stay with you. You are allowed to take up to three dogs from the same household, BUT you choose what you are happy with. We will ask you how many dogs you would like to look after and what sized dog/s you would be happy to care for.
Do I have to provide the food?
No, the owner will bring any food or treats for the duration of the stay. Any toys, bedding, medication and leads will also be brought.
Does the dog/s have to be vaccinated?
Yes each dog MUST have up to date vaccinations, have been wormed and treated for fleas. Proof of the vaccinations will be brought to the meeting and shown to you.
What about walking the dogs?
All dogs should be taken out each day for walks. When you have your meeting with the owners all routines, including the number and length of walks, will be discussed. The dog is only ever walked on a lead.
What if the dog becomes ill?
We/you would endeavour to contact the owner or the emergency contact. The owner or the emergency contact would be liable for any expenses incurred in taking the dog to the vet.
Will I be paid?
You will receive a daily allowance starting from £16 per day.
What happens next?
If you are interested in becoming a carer, please ring us for an informal chat and ask any questions or email us with your details and we will come back to you. You can also use the contact form on the ‘contact us’ tab. If we feel you are suitable we would then arrange to visit you at home.

After our initial meeting with Janet, we were happy with your selection of host. Janet understood Laddie’s needs and routines and PetStay helped the process greatly.
Our dog was matched up to a lovely couple, and we could not have been put more at ease by them. Their knowledge and experience of dogs was outstanding. When we collected our dog at the end of his stay he was so content I am sure he could have stayed there forever! We look forward to using your services again.
I just wanted to say thank you for arranging for Benji to stay with Olwyn last week in Nottingham, I know it was a bit of a drive for us, but it was so worth it. Olwyn and her family are lovely and looked after Benji so well, and really loved him, he was so happy and settled with them all when I went to pick him up, and Yanto is great. Hopefully Benji can stay with them another time. Thank- you
Olwyn and her husband have made it so much easier to leave Grayson. He gets so much fuss from them; it makes the whole experience a lot less stressful. I would recommend them. Thank you so much.
Dexter, our 9-year-old Chihuahua had a lovely stay with Glenis in August this year and made our holiday so much more enjoyable knowing that he was happy and safe while we were away.
Chris & Kathryn
We were so impressed with how all was organised for his stay with Olwyn she looked after him so well think he would have stayed ! Such a lovely couple and clearly loved Prince . All correspondence works great too, so pleased with the service we had we shall always call you for future holidays for Prince, our minds will be at rest how well he will be looked after .
Alison and Michael Holmes and Prince
I want to say a big thank you for arranging the stay at Carol’s for Finn. We had video’s of him every day, it was great for us to see him being looked after lovely, he was watching Emmerdale on the sofa with Carol in one of the videos.
We will definitely recommend you to anyone who asks about their dog being looked after.
Thanks again to you and Carol
Jasper stayed with Janet for a week – his first time with PetStay . He has to take medication and can be a bit of a thief with food . I was very impressed with the professional way Janet handled all of this . Jasper clearly had a great time , and some great walks , and was very well looked after . He’s going back later this year.
Charlie, our Cocker Spaniel, had a lovely holiday with Carol so we were able to have a lovely holiday too, without worrying about him. Carol sent us pictures and video so we could see he has having fun. He has been to Carol a couple of times and is happy to go to her and happy to come home – just as you would want it.
I’m writing to say that Baileys care by Olwyn has been outstanding. She made him feel so loved and content in a new situation and I couldn’t praise her more.
Her husband John was also supportive in his care and I felt like I could relax leaving him in safe hands.
I was given updates regularly and I highly recommend the care Olwyn has given.
I’ve been using PetStay for a few years, they are always very helpful. The website is easy to use. Any emails I send are very promptly replied to, Archie is very happy staying with any carer he’s had with PetStay…. Totally recommend this company for your pet!
Olwyn looked after our boy King for a week. She was kind and caring and looked after him as well as we do, if not more and it was a home from home experience for King which was essential for us. Thank you Olwyn!
Really pleased with the service offered by our sitter Janet and Chris who arranged it for us. It was great to be able to visit previously and be reassured that our cocker spaniel Pippin would be in good hands. We were able to enjoy our holiday knowing that Pippin would be enjoying his too. Thank you so much.
Bertie had a wonderful time staying with Don & Linda. Having been a bit nervous about leaving him because he hadn’t been away from us for two years due to lockdown, my mind was completely put at rest. I don’t think he even noticed we’d gone when we dropped him off! The process was obviously two-way, as Bertie provided Don & Linda with entertainment too. I would thoroughly recommend the process of matching Bertie up with the right carers too. All the requirements I laid out were fulfilled. Thank you for the trouble-free stay
Our first experience of using PetStay, after unsuccessful kennel experiences. Mango who has his complexities, was happy & relaxed, settled well and Nicola & Lee kept us updated daily with photos. It made our holiday more relaxed as we knew he was in good hands and we appreciated the chance to do some preparatory work before he stayed. So we’ve booked again…twice! Thank you
We were looking for somewhere to board our young Cocker Spaniel when we go on holiday. We had looked at kennels but knew these were not suitable for our dog who has a lot of attention and company. We came across PetStay and were impressed with the service. We were paired with a lovely couple. We met Olwyn, her husband and dog Yento and immediately hit it off. Our dog, Ruby, has just returned from a 3 night visit. She settled well and was well looked after. We are now confident that when we go away for 2 weeks there will be no problems and Olwyn will welcome her into her home as her own. Thank you.
Mia had a fine time with Nicola and Lee. They were both very understanding that we bring Mia for a short visit before her 3 day stay over especially with Mia being deaf. Mia apparently settled in well and enjoyed saying hello to their rabbit Bugsy each morning.
Mia has 2 more holidays lined up with them and we shall enjoy our holidays in the knowledge that Mia will be happy there and part of their family.
Mark and Isobel
Highly recommend PetStay who were friendly, professional and very helpful throughout. The sitter they found for us was absolutely amazing and we had a great holiday knowing our dog was in such good hands and being so well cared for. Our usual dog sitter was admitted to hospital a week before a two week holiday so we would have been in a real mess if PetStay hadn’t helped us out. They are amazing!!!
Thank you so much to PetStay and especially to Malcolm who took such great care of looking after our dog Winnie. We had peace of mind that she was being well cared for whilst we enjoyed our holiday! We will definitely use PetStay again !!
The Bell Family
Tilly stayed for a second time with Ollie, Stewart and Yento and she clearly thinks of their house as home. She was made part of the family for her recent 2 week visit in August. Tilly got lots of attention and enjoyed having Yento as her playmate. Ollie gave us regular updates during the 2 weeks on how she had settled and what she was getting up to so without doubt I would definitely recommend PetStay and Ollie and Stewart.
Laila had an amazing time at Olwyn’s, I hope they will have her stay again next summer.
Lynda and her family looked after Ollie our cuddly Old English/Wolfhound cross-breed for 10 days this August and her and her lovely family couldn’t have been more perfect. Ollie is a rescue dog and has had an horrific early life, plus being part Old English Sheepdog and having to be constantly around humans, means we can’t put him in normal kennels. His stay with Lynda and her family took all the worry out of it and Ollie has had a fabulous holiday as well as us. Can’t recommend them highly enough!
Our 13 year old working cocker has had a stroke and since then we have been worried about leaving him. From the moment we met Malcolm we knew Robbie would be in good hands. Malcolm was a fantastic carer and when we collected Robbie he seemed so much calmer than whenever we’ve collected him from others.
This is the first time we have used PetStay and I can’t recommend it enough. Our little chihuahua would have hated to be boarded outside in kennels so this was the perfect solution, a warm, cozy, loving, home from home whist we enjoyed a week abroad. Lee and Nicola couldn’t have been nicer, they took the time to find out all about our little dog beforehand and provided 1st class care, regularly updating us with pictures of him enjoying his stay. It made our holiday all the more enjoyable knowing that Dexter was enjoying his week away as well.
This is the first time we have used PetStay, highly recommended by a friend. We had previously used kennels only the once and this was an absolutely awful experience. From start to finish the PetStay experience has been fantastic, I cannot thank them enough. Chris and Sue were amazing with Murdock even though he was very nervous. He went on some lovely walks and they treated him like their own pet. A massive thank you to Chris, Sue, Mark and everyone else at PetStay Nottingham xx.
Wendy, Michael, Stefan and Ewan
Archie had a brilliant time with Carol & seemed very happy when we collected him. Archie has a lovely nature but is a very lively & mischievous dog who can sometimes be a little monkey but Carol coped very well with his naughty antics. Despite having a munch on her glasses she didn’t seem fazed & hasn’t cancelled his next visit so that’s a very good sign!! We are so grateful to Carol for her care of Archie & have no hesitation in recommending her as a boarder. Thank you also to PetStay for their help in finding us the right person for Archie.
It is extremely difficult to express our absolute delight in a review, but here is our attempt. Our baby ‘Lucy’ went for her two week holiday and stayed with Ollie, Stewart and Yento. Well! If dogs could talk. She clearly had a wonderful, relaxing, exciting and playful time, including an encounter. with a tortoise (video to prove it). We collected a calm, chilled and very happy little dog thanks to the love and affection she received. The time and influence spent the guys was definitely an experience she thoroughly enjoyed. Already booked for another stay.
Bailey & Darcey
I was introduced to PetStay by a family member and used them for the first time just this week. The whole process was very reassuring in terms of the initial visit to the gentleman who would be looking after our two dogs and viewing his inspection and audit documents. Very professional. Bailey and Darcey stayed with Malcolm for five days in total. Malcolm is a genuinely nice guy who obviously loves dogs. We have already booked Malcolm (through PetStay) for two more weeks. Bet Bailey and Darcey can’t wait for another holiday.
Jessie clearly had a lovely time staying with Sue, she had been very well cared for and we are very grateful to Sue for looking after our furbaby. It was great to know that we could contact Sue whilst away, and we felt reassured to know that Jessie was in a home from home environment and not in kennels, as we know she would have been unhappy with lots of other dogs in the kennels. We definitely want to use the PetStay service again!
From my very first meeting with Sue I felt totally comfortable and reassured that Trudie would be happy and settled whilst we were away. I was more worried that Trudie might be naughty or badly behaved on lead, but Sue completely put my mind at ease and sent us this lovely picture of a very chilled out Golden Retriever. Overall I was so impressed with the PetStay Nottingham booking experience from start to finish and looking forward to using them again for my next holiday!
Lottie and Jenson had such a wonderful stay with Nicola and Lee over the Easter break. Always a bit nervous about leaving Lottie as she’s a bit of nervous dog but she soon settled in with them. Already booked in for our next visit 😊
This was the first time using PetStay and we will definitely be using again. Our little 1 year old Jack Russell Tilly had a wonderful stay with Ollie and Stewart and they made her feel like part of the family. We were apprehensive at first but after meeting Ollie and Stewart we knew she would be well looked after. The entire process was easy and efficient and questions were dealt with promptly and professionally.
We’ve always taken our beloved dog Sally on holiday with us in the UK, but when we were invited to a family wedding abroad, we quite honestly panicked at what we would do with her.
Having searched online we came across PetStay’s website, and having read all the wonderful reviews we decided to give them a call. Mark couldn’t have been more reassuring on the phone and it wasn’t only his professionalism that came across but more importantly how much PetStay put your dog at the very forefront of what they do. After Mark asked us a number of questions about Sally, we were invited to go and meet a lovely couple in Nottingham who we spent a couple of hours with getting to know. The high standard of service we received at the first call with Mark just continued throughout the whole process of booking Sally in for a PetStay holiday which meant we went away absolutely assured Sally would be well looked after. Having now returned and collected Sally from her holiday we couldn’t be more impressed. We came back to a happy, relaxed dog and at first we weren’t even sure she wanted to come home with us!
We can’t recommend PetStay enough…it’s even made us explore the option of further holidays abroad, so we’ll certainly be using PetStay again. Bravo PetStay on an exceptional service!!
Everything went very successfully with Sue, whose house is perfect for a dog like Noodle. His health is now under control, but the underlying issues continue, so no more kennels for him. He’s come home a much calmer dog than usual when we pick him up from kennels and it’s wonderful now to see him so relaxed. If and when we need to find care for him, we will be back in touch with PetStay. Many thanks again for helping us out, and for making it possible for Noodle never to have to go to the kennels again!
Just collected Sadie from her three week stay with Olwyn and am overwhelmed at how well she’s been cared for. Sadie is an old lady but is bouncing around and playing and has a new lease of life. Thanks Olwyn and Petstay – brilliant service.
Would highly recommend PetStay Nottingham. We required accommodation for our nervous dog Ralph who was looked after fantastically whilst we were away on a family holiday. We received regular updates from Lee & Nicola which set our minds at ease. We came back to a very happy and well cared for dog.
Thanks again for sorting a suitable placement!
Very happy with the couple I got matched with. Olwyn and Stewart were brilliant with Bert. He’s a big dog so was a little worried he can seem a handful to some people but I felt at ease from the first meet and when I picked him up it felt like collecting him from family. They clearly got him and it was a great match with their little dog as well. Will recommend to anyone.
We have a dog who suffers from anxiety separation and had never been away from the family before. Nicola and Lee were amazing with him and he spent a very happy Christmas with them. They kept us informed sending us photos and he looked so relaxed and happy with them. I will definitely be using them again. The service Petstay offers is very professional and I would certainly recommend them.
This is the second time we have used Petstay and I cannot recommend it highly enough. From first contact to when you get home from your holiday communication is fantastic. The carers are amazing and sent photos to reassure us that Rocco was having a great time! Not sure Rocco wanted to come home after all the love he had received!! We will never use kennels again and Petstay will always be our first port of call. Thank you so so much!
OLIVES FABULOUS HOLIDAY HOME
The PetStay service was excellent and we can highly recommend it! Laura and Nick cared for Olive so brilliantly I don’t think she wanted to come home! It was great to have the peace of mind that Olive was part of another family while we were away and she loved every minute judging by the photos. An overall positive experience Thank you.
Our old Spanish Podenco can’t keep up with the crazy Pointers anymore so we needed to find him a caring home environment whilst we went to Scotland. As he is 10 we wanted him to have all the home comforts. Our Petstay careers were very understanding and obviously dog lovers. Billie thoroughly enjoyed all the fuss and we had regular text messages and photos whilst we were away. It gives such peace of mind when you know your dog is in a family home instead of kennels. I highly recommend this service!! It was so easy to arrange and the visit to the carers before going away so they can meet your dog is very important.
Excellent service. The chance to visit the foster carers beforehand gave us great peace of mind. The texts and photos were great and reassuring whilst we were on holiday. Chris was very helpful in setting this up for us. I would definitely use this service again!! Billie was well cared for and not at all stressed. He came home happy and relaxed which was wonderful!!
Gizmo & Cassie
Cassie and Gizmo’s happy Holiday
I was looking for a holiday home for Cassie and Gizmo for when we was going away a friend of mine recommended Petstay I phoned up and spoke to Chris who is lovely communication was great from start to finish with having two large dogs I thought it was going to be difficult but he put us in contact with Lynda and Andy , we all met up and they agreed to have them . the whole process was smooth and stress free Cassie and Gizmo had a great time we even got videos and pictures of there stay whilst we were away which put our minds at rest I would highly recommend Petstay to anyone much better than taking them to the kennels which stressed Cassie out a great deal you will be seeing them both again . Thank you Petstay
Bertie’s fab doggy holiday!!
Recently placed my cockapoo Bertie with Petstay for a last minute holiday, I’ve never left him with anyone other than my parents before so I was really apprehensive to start. The communication with Chris from the very first contact was fantastic, completely placed me at ease and made the whole process really quick & easy. Being able to meet the carer beforehand was excellent, she was extremely lovely and Bertie loved his time there! Cannot recommend Petstay enough, fantastic and I will definitely be using them again!!
We were recommended through a friend of a friend, can’t recommend this service highly enough. Great communication with Chris and our holiday hosts Lynda and Andy. Our Rottweiler is a re home so didn’t want to put her back into a kennel environment. Abbie will definitely be holidaying again with PetStay Nottingham, just so much piece of mind knowing how well they are looked after. Thank-you x
We found this leaflet at a Kennelgate Store, as we were desperately seeking to home our Pet Dog Pippa, whilst we went on Holiday to Bruges. Could not thank Chris enough for quickly finding us a super match to home our our dog in a lovely home with a lovely lady. We did so not want to put our dog in the kennels. She was well looked after, and was so pleased that Petstay, relieved us of the pressure of finding someone at short notice. It sure was ideal. Would definitely recommend. All the right questions were asked, and all was dealt with in a professional and friendly manner. Would definitely use Petstay again. Thank You so much for your Kind and Prompt service.
Bane & Bella
We found a poster for Petstay Nottingham on a fence while out walking. We were able to find a carer within short notice which was a big relief. We were very pleased with all aspects of the service provided. We will definitely be using Lynda and Andy again as Bane and Bella definitely enjoyed their ‘holiday’
PetStay was recommended to us by our friend and dog walker. We were going to visit family and friends in the states and needed care for our pup and did not want to leave him in a kennel. We are so happy to have found this service. We were matched with a lovely family who we met before our holiday. Everyone got along great so we were comfortable leaving our baby with Lynda and Andy and their family while we were away. We were able to stay in touch while on our vacation and see pictures of how much Bowson was enjoying his vacation as well. In fact we think he was a bit sad to leave his new extended family on our return. We can’t recommend Chris and his team at PetStay enough. We now feel free to travel knowing that Bowson will have a lovely time too.
