Hello and welcome to PetStay Staffordshire, offering dog home boarding in the Staffordshire Moorlands, Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle and Stafford areas. I’m Jane Prince and I live in the Staffordshire Moorlands with my fur-boy Barney and hubby Paul.
Holidays are great, but what do you do with your dogs when you can’t take them away with you? Some dogs just don’t like a kennel environment; they need company and cuddles. That’s where PetStay is ideal! I match your pooches with ‘Carers’ – experienced dog-lovers who take them into their own homes. They are all carefully selected & inspected, licensed & insured and I would happily leave my Barney with any of them.
With PetStay, you meet the recommended Carer before you book and, when it’s holiday time, you take everything your dogs need for their stay. While you are relaxing on your sunbed, they will be relaxing on their own beds, surrounded by familiar things in a loving home.
Give me a call today to tell me about your dogs – I’m looking forward to helping them find their perfect holiday home.
And if you’re interested in becoming a Carer, are at home during the day, have a very secure garden and love dogs, please get in touch for an informal chat.
Jane Prince, PetStay Staffordshire.

Frequently Asked Questions about becoming a PetStay Carer
What are the requirements of becoming a carer?
You must be a genuine dog lover, have experience of looking after dogs and you need to be home during the day so you have plenty of time to give to the dogs you are caring for. You must have a secure garden and agree to abide by PetStay guidelines. You are allowed to have a dog of your own as long as your dog gets on with other dogs.
How are your carers vetted?
If you meet all the requirements listed above, we will come and visit you at your home. We will check the security of the garden, explain PetStay procedures and show you the guidelines each carer needs to follow. If you are happy with everything and we feel you would make a suitable PetStay carer, we would follow up a reference and arrange public liability insurance for you.
How many dogs can I look after?
Our service is on a one-to-one basis, so only dogs from the same household will stay with you. You are allowed to take up to three dogs from the same household, BUT you choose what you are happy with. We will ask you how many dogs you would like to look after and what sized dog/s you would be happy to care for.
Do I have to provide the food?
No, the owner will bring any food or treats for the duration of the stay. Any toys, bedding, medication and leads will also be brought.
Does the dog/s have to be vaccinated?
Yes each dog MUST have up to date vaccinations, have been wormed and treated for fleas. Proof of the vaccinations will be brought to the meeting and shown to you.
What about walking the dogs?
All dogs should be taken out each day for walks. When you have your meeting with the owners all routines, including the number and length of walks, will be discussed. The dog is only ever walked on a lead.
What if the dog becomes ill?
We/you would endeavour to contact the owner or the emergency contact. The owner or the emergency contact would be liable for any expenses incurred in taking the dog to the vet.
Will I be paid?
You will receive a daily allowance starting from £16 per day.
What happens next?
If you are interested in becoming a carer, please ring us for an informal chat and ask any questions or email us with your details and we will come back to you. You can also use the contact form on the ‘contact us’ tab. If we feel you are suitable we would then arrange to visit you at home.

We were happy that Millie was staying with Neil & Sue after her trial stay went well a few weeks before. When we arrived at their home Millie’s tail started to wag and she seemed excited about going into the house and staying with them, which put our minds at rest as we were leaving her for three weeks. On our return Neil & Sue said she had been fine and enjoyed her routine including her daily walks. So pleased to leave her in a home environment with such lovely caring people. Will definitely not have to worry when leaving her in August. Can’t thank you, Neil & Sue enough.

Kay & I are so very happy we found PetStay and Pat & Geoff. Marnie absolutely adores staying with them and it is very clear they love Marnie too. We are so lucky to have such wonderful carers for Marnie and, for her, it is like her own holiday. Kay & I can completely relax knowing Marnie is having 5 star attention with P & G. They are such lovely people, we are massively pleased with all the arrangements.

Our 2 dealings with PetStay ( North Staffordshire) have been extremely professional from start to finish. Jane managed to find the same carer for our 2 dogs which was very reassuring. The level of detail required from the start of the process is very thorough and we felt very confident that all would be done to ensure our dogs were well looked after, which indeed they were. Sue and her family were very welcoming and looked after our dogs as though they were their own. Sue sent texts and photos when we were away to reassure us that the dogs were happy. She was very understanding with our younger, very nervous dog who was obviously very much at ease with the family. The trial visit is an excellent idea for both carer and owner. Thank you Jane and Sue and family for your care and concern.

Splitz
“I can’t say enough about Rosie, Adrian and their lovely daughter Aoife, who cared for Splitz whilst I was on holiday. He is an aged dog of 16 years, who is almost blind so needs lots of TLC. He went for lovely walks and I know he had lots of attention. I have no hesitation in letting him be cared for again in their lovely home.”

“Pat & Geoff were a credit to your company. It was their first time to have a dog to stay and they both wanted to get everything right! [At the Meet & Greet] they gave me the time to explain what makes Charlie ‘tick’ and I felt they really knew him. “Wilma has been staying with carers at Petstay for a few years and it has proved to be the best care that Wilma could have ever had. Mary and Ken and Lynne and Ray have looked after Wilma as if she was their own. Although Wilma misses her own home, she settled well with both families and they said she wasn’t a bit of trouble. We would recommend this service without reservation. It has been the best quality of care ever. Thank you to all involved in PetStay. Well done! What a great team you are!”

Archie
My normal dog sitter had to cancel a long standing booking due to a personal problem and she recommended PetStay to help out. At very short notice we contacted PetStay and they introduced us to an exceptional carer within a day. A visit was arranged and the booking was confirmed. Archie our Cavapoo came back from this visit tired but contented and we could see straight away he’d been spoiled rotten and given loads of love. Can’t praise this service enough. There will be a lot more business going their way from us.

From the moment we met Carol we could tell she genuinely cared about Olly’s welfare which really helped put us at ease when it came to leaving him. The initial meeting was well planned and we followed the guidelines given so things ran smoothly.
Communication from Jane and Carol was excellent and any questions, worries or concerns were answered quickly and to our satisfaction.
Olly had a great time with Carol – he was lovingly cared for and the interaction with another dog [Emily] has already had positive benefits for his routine. We had updates about how he had settled the first day which helped us not to be worrying while we were away. Poppy
PetStay ticks all the boxes in providing an ideal solution to the problem of having a happy pet whilst you are away on holiday.
Kennels can be a daunting experience for your dog and you don’t like to put on family and friends by leaving them with a demanding guest for a week or two.
Luckily I heard about PetStay and contacted them. Turned out I knew Jane who runs the Staffordshire branch and knew she was in business for her love of animals.
Jane paired us up with Marilyn – another lovely lady who has devoted a large part of her life to caring for rescue dogs.
I felt assured that Poppy, our Border/Bichon cross would be happy in Marilyn’s home and she was!
I would recommend PetStay to anyone who is looking peace of mind and a happy pet whilst they holiday.

Our dogs had never been in kennels and we were very nervous about leaving them. Our first meeting with Lynne and Ray quickly showed us that we had nothing to fear and our two dogs took to them immediately, much to our amazement. We were very confident that they would be well looked after and this was definitely the case – when we returned they were pleased to see us but would have happily stayed there!
The updates and photos while we were away were very reassuring and it was great to see the dogs looking so happy and doing all the same things that they do at home.
It is really good to know that we have people we can trust to look after our very precious pets enabling us to go away secure in the knowledge they are safe and happy

Chester & Vito
We have struggled to find a holiday home for our 2 dogs for 3 years. This is due to one of them being a very large breed and he doesn’t get on with other dogs meaning they have to have one to one care.
I phoned Petstay on a Monday and by Wednesday the same week we was on our way to Lynne and Ray’s house for a meeting, also taking our boys. They had gone above and beyond to make their house safe and secure for their new guests. Vito and Chester had a sniff around, lots of kisses and cuddles and we knew then our babies were going to be in safe hands, so we booked them in for the following week.
Lynne & Ray couldn’t ask enough questions to make sure they had all the information they needed and they wrote everything down. They were also able to give Chester his medication. On our return, our dogs looked happy, healthy and very well looked after. Now we’ve got them home I actually think they’re sad as they miss Lynne and Ray.
Thank you Lynne and Ray for an impeccable service and thank you PetStay for introducing us to such kind, caring and loving carers for our babies. Thank you also for making the whole service quick and easy.
P. S we have already booked them in again for in two weeks time for 7 nights :).
