Hi, my name is Rachel and I run the PetStay Wakefield & Castleford branch. I live in West Yorkshire with my husband Jason, our three children and our two cocker spaniels, Buddy and Tess.
After collecting Buddy and Tess from the kennels one day I was completely ignored for a week. They had made it very clear that an alternative arrangement must be found! I discovered home dog boarding was a happier alternative for my dogs, and that’s where PetStay came in.
Your beloved dog would have its every wish and command met by one of our lovely licensed carers, resulting in peace of mind for you and a very happy and content dog upon your return. Be it from a fortnight abroad to a sneaky weekend break, we care for your dog exactly as you would at home with all routines kept to throughout their stay.

All our carers love dogs. They are experienced dog owners who will provide the very best care for your pet while you are away. Each host carer is personally interviewed by PetStay to make sure that they are happy with the environment your pet will stay in. The host families are also covered by our public liability insurance. Some of the carers may have a dog of their own, and if you have a pooch that is happy to be placed with another dog we will arrange a meet up for a bit of a sniff.
How it Works
When you get in touch I will ask you lots of questions about your dog to make sure that I will be able to match them up with the most suitable carer. We ask that all new clients along with their dogs have a meet and greet with the carer so that everyone is happy. That way we know everyone’s going to get along with each other. Then you can go away, whether business, holiday, or quick get-away, confident that your pooch will have a holiday of their own.

Here are the few simple stages of booking with PetStay.
1st: Ring or email your local branch to discuss your dogs requirements and dates.
2nd: We will explain all about PetStay and what your next steps would be.
3rd: We then take all details about your dog and then match them to the most suitable carer.
4th: A meeting will be organised for you and your dog to meet the carer.
5th: If you are 100% happy with your carer you would then be ready to book with PetStay.
6th: No later than 5 days after your initial meeting, complete our on-line booking form and pay the arrangement fee.
7th: An email confirmation will be sent to you.
8th: You’re all booked in and don’t have to worry about anything.
9th: Drop your dog off at the carer’s house with food, a bed. toys and anything else you think they might need.
10th: Go away with complete peace of mind and have a wonderful holiday.
*PetStay Arrangement Fee
Our daily rate is made up of the Arrangement Fee and the Carer’s Allowance. These are 2 separate payments. The Arrangement Fee is a payment to arrange and confirm the booking of your dog’s stay, and is due for payment within 5 days of meeting your dog carer. For a repeat booking the Arrangement Fee is payable within 5 days of your requested dates being confirmed by PetStay.
The Arrangement Fee is non-refundable or non- transferable
The Arrangement Fee is for the service provided by your local PetStay branch in selecting a suitably matched dog carer for you and your dog. The Arrangement Fee also represents a proportion of all the administration and ongoing business costs, including but not limited to, Public Liability and Employer Liability insurance, licensing, recruitment of carers, advertising, 24/7 support to carers, and business documentation giving you peace of mind and your dog a quality home dog boarding experience with PetStay.
The Dog Carer’s Allowance
The Carer’s Allowance is paid direct to the dog carer when you drop your dog off

Frequently Asked Questions about becoming a PetStay Carer
What are the requirements of becoming a carer?
You must be a genuine dog lover, have experience of looking after dogs and you need to be home during the day so you have plenty of time to give to the dogs you are caring for. You must have a secure garden and agree to abide by PetStay guidelines. You are allowed to have a dog of your own as long as your dog gets on with other dogs.
How are your carers vetted?
If you meet all the requirements listed above, we will come and visit you at your home. We will check the security of the garden, explain PetStay procedures and show you the guidelines each carer needs to follow. If you are happy with everything and we feel you would make a suitable PetStay carer, we would follow up a reference and arrange public liability insurance for you.
How many dogs can I look after?
Our service is on a one-to-one basis, so only dogs from the same household will stay with you. You are allowed to take up to three dogs from the same household, BUT you choose what you are happy with. We will ask you how many dogs you would like to look after and what sized dog/s you would be happy to care for.
Do I have to provide the food?
No, the owner will bring any food or treats for the duration of the stay. Any toys, bedding, medication and leads will also be brought.
Does the dog/s have to be vaccinated?
Yes each dog MUST have up to date vaccinations, have been wormed and treated for fleas. Proof of the vaccinations will be brought to the meeting and shown to you.
What about walking the dogs?
All dogs should be taken out each day for walks. When you have your meeting with the owners all routines, including the number and length of walks, will be discussed. The dog is only ever walked on a lead.
What if the dog becomes ill?
We/you would endeavour to contact the owner or the emergency contact. The owner or the emergency contact would be liable for any expenses incurred in taking the dog to the vet.
Will I be paid?
You will receive a daily allowance starting from £13.00 per day.
What happens next?

Oscar and Lola had a fabulous holiday with Jan and Chris. They were spoilt

Jan has a beautiful home with all the facilities for any dog to have a great

Just want to say when we go on holiday we have no fears or worries about leaving Tom with Lauren and Jeremy which we have done on many occasions, we know he is loved and well cared for as much as we can hope. Angus & Rosie
Our 2 dogs Angus and Rosie went on a PetStay holiday to stay with Annette, where they had a great time. We met Annette before our holiday and she was great with the dogs so we knew they’d be OK. We got pictures and updates whilst we were away and could see they’d been well looked after when we picked them up. We hope Annette will be available for our next holiday ?.
What can I say apart from wow! First time we’ve left our 11 month old puppy for more than a few days. I knew from our initial meeting with Annette that she would be in great hands. Throughout Lottie’s 10 day stay my family and I all felt at ease knowing that she was in an home, surrounded by ‘humans’ who loved her like their own. We received regular texts, photos and videos of Lottie having fun ‘on her own holiday with Annette’. Cannot recommend Annette ‘PetStay’ enough. Thank you from us all :).
PetStay are fabulous. We have used them twice this year for our Border Collie Toby. Toby recently stayed with Tina for 10 days whilst we went on holiday. He had a fabulous time with Tina, got lots of lovely walks and cuddles. Thoroughly recommend PetStay, Rachel was brilliant and asked all the right questions so she could match Toby with the right family. We got to go and meet the family before we were asked to part with any cash. Will definitely be using them again.
Sweep & Monty
We just wanted to say how grateful we are to Geoff and Sharon for taking such good care of Sweep and Monty for us while we had a family holiday. They were so kind and calm with our dogs that both Sweep and Monty settled very well and very quickly. In fact both dogs are sulking now that they’re home again! Geoff and Sharon even sent us regular photos and updates on how Sweep and Monty were doing, which was such a lovely thing to receive and to top it off they had bought both dogs a leaving present too. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Geoff and Sharon, but we want first dibs!

Our dogs, Sam and Millie, spent a week with Jan and Chris. Both dogs came back very relaxed and happy. Our dogs are older, so obviously we worry a bit about leaving them, but Jan sent us a couple of messages whilst we were away to let us know that they were fine. She has a lovely house and secure garden which they could wander out into and lie in the sun. They also had lots of walks, and even won prizes at a local village show! Booking through Rachel was straight forward and I would be more than happy to use PetStay again. Really pleased with the service provided by Rachel. She was able to pair me up with a lovely lady called Sharon, who was experienced with the Staffy breed. This put my mind at ease and meant I could have a stress free holiday, knowing that my dog ((Junior) was left in capable hands. It’s the first time I have ever left Tyson with anyone other than my dad I was very scared in leaving him, thinking he wouldn’t settle etc. How wrong was I !!! Tyson loved staying at Jans ! What a lovely couple her and her partner are they looked after Tyson as if he was there own. She sent me regular messages to let me know how he was including pictures.
They loved having Tyson and gave him 100 % care and attention. I will deffo be using this service again. Tyson loved it Thank you so so so much Jan x.

Ron & Daisy had a lovely short break with Jan & Chris – I was kept up to date by text while I was away, & it’s lovely to receive messages such as ‘they’re both fast asleep on the sofa’ as that’s exactly what they would have been doing at home! They were kept to their usual routine for walks and feeding and had lots of fun playing in the garden while they were away.
I’d have no hesitation in leaving our dogs with Jan & Chris again, and I’m very happy to recommend PetStay.
Sam my 10 year old Yorkshire Terrier has just come back from a luxury holiday himself – whilst I was on a cruise in the Caribbean he was having 2 walks a day – laying on the sofa and enjoying lots of cuddles at affection. I really do believe Sam was a little disappointed to see me come back from holiday!! I had total peace of mind that Sam was safe and well looked after with Chris.

Just collected murphy after leaving him with carol and geoff, we have used pet stay three times now and we could not be happier, murphy is happy when we drop him off and extremely well looked after that enables us to feel reassured and relaxed on our holidays, we can not praise them enough.

This is the first time we have left our lovely old girl, Maddie, with carers at Petstay but we will not hesitate to do this again. From the moment we met Geoff and Sharon we knew she would be well cared for whilst we were away. Their attention to Maddie’s needs were second to none and it was obvious that they treated Maddie as they would their own dog. Geoff sent us updates and photos while we were away, this was lovely and so reassuring for us to see her settled and happy. Geoff and Sharon are a lovely couple who clearly love having dogs in their lives, we would not hesitate in asking for them again and would highly recommend them.
We have used Petstay several times over the past few years for our chocolate Labrador, Bailey. We would never dream of putting Bailey in kennels as he is a very sociable dog who loves to interact with people. We have been delighted with all the carers we have placed Bailey with. Geoff was our most recent PetStay carer. Geoff was very thorough and detailed at our initial meeting, and we were confident that Geoff would look after Bailey with compassion, care and according to our instructions. Geoff and his wife Sharon were brilliant at sending us photos via a Whats App group whilst we were away and kept us updated with how Bailey was doing. This was over and above the call of duty, but it was lovely to get regular updates and pictures. Bailey can be quite a stubborn dog and he’s very set in his ways, liking routine. He’s also a very big dog to look after, but Geoff coped brilliantly with him. Bailey had a lovely holiday with them, and we would recommend PetStay to any dog owner who needs peace of mind that their pet is being cared for thoroughly.

Kody recently stayed with Lauren and her husband in Ossett. I felt the service provided was brilliant , this put us at ease knowing we could go away leaving Kody in good hands. We would definitely use PetStay again.
My border terrier Max recently stayed with Joy in Ossett. He clearly loved it – he was happy, at ease and felt very much at home. I was reassured by the text updates at the beginning of his stay and it was great to pick up a very relaxed dog when I returned from holiday. I would definitely use PetStay again.
I was extremely happy with how my dog Archie was looked after while I was away. As he’s only 9 months old this was his first time away from home, so I was a bit worried about how he was going to be. But we met up with joy in ossett before I went away, who was so lovely and she loved Archie straight away. She kept us up to date with txts how Archie was doing which was reassuring. Archie is going back to joy at the end of Sept and I know he will be well looked after.
Sam, our 6 year old black labrador stayed wuth Marie and her family, over Easter.
He had been to a dog boarders before, but was over a year ago, so was a bit worried how he would settle.
Marie up dated us on how he was doing and we could tell he was been spoilt by all the family. …even sending us a photo of him playing in the snow.

We used Petstay for the first time this year Marie looked after our two dogs and it was very clear when we picked them up that they had a great time. Never had any issues with the pet sitting service. Our pup is a bit of a sucker for company and couldn’t handle a kennel. This is the best solution available for a happy pup.

We met our carer for Barney our Labrador first and got to know him a little and he met Barney. We warmed to him straight away.
The whole process from enquiring to boarding was very professional as they found out everything they could about our dogs needs.
Barney settled well and enjoyed his stay.

Ruby is often anxious, but from the first visit, she quickly calmed in the company of Jane and her lovely two dogs, Muffin and Reggie. It is the first time when staying away from home that she has been calm enough to eat on the first day of her visit, testament to the love and care that she received during her stay which helped her to feel comfortable and secure. As an added and unexpected bonus, Jane even kept her well brushed and looking beautiful. There was no frantic ‘hello’ when I came to collect her, just a very happy wagging tail. I cannot praise Jane enough for the care with which she planned for Ruby’s first stay, and the efforts she make her stay a very happy one. We felt reassured leaving our dog after an initial meeting with his carers before we committed. They left us feeling confident he would be looked after well, which he was. We are Charlie and Cooper and our mummy and daddy are Gail and Craig. They recently went on holiday and were determined not to put us into kennels. After some research they found Tracy Linfoot at PetStay. Tracy put them in touch with Fiona P who lives locally and we all went to visit her at her house to see if we would all get on. Turns out that Fiona P (who is now known as auntie fifi by all of us) knows how to look after and entertain us on a daily basis with trips out every day which included, the sculpture park, the woods, the fields and nice long walks.
One of us is partially blind and auntie fifi took extra special care and even moved her furniture to make things easier.
We were treated like members of her family and shown nothing but love, care and attention. We can’t wait to go back.

Who has access to your information?
We do not sell or rent your personal data or information to any third party or share your information with third parties for their marketing purposes.
We will disclose your data or information if required by law, for example by a court order or for the prevention of fraud or other crime.
We may pass your information on to our third-party service providers, agents or subcontractors for the purposes of completing a task or providing services to you on our behalf (for example commercial accountants who manage our accounts). However, we disclose only the personal information necessary to deliver that service and have a contract in place that requires them to keep your information secure and not to use it for their own marketing purposes.

- You can unsubscribe from receiving marketing emails from us by clicking the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of any email. Once you do this, you will no longer receive any direct marketing emails from us.
- You can request a readable copy of the personal data we hold on you at any time. To do this, please contact us via email email@example.com.

Keeping your data secure
When you give us personal information we take steps to ensure that it’s treated securely and strive to protect it on our internal systems. We ensure that:
- Up to date antivirus and antimalware is installed on all endpoints across the PetStay franchise and franchisee network.
- Security updates and patches are regularly applied to all components of the PetStay system.
- Access to physical and digital systems within PetStay are restricted to only personal who explicitly need these rights to do their job.
We use Transport Layer Security (TLS) to encrypt and protect email traffic in line with government standards. If your email service does not support TLS, you should be aware that any emails we send or receive may not be protected in transit.
We will also monitor any emails sent to us, including file attachments, for viruses or malicious software. Please be aware that you have a responsibility to ensure that any email you send is within the bounds of the law.
Visitors to our Website
