South Tyneside Council has granted a five-star award to home dog boarding service, PetStay.
The Newcastle branch of the national dog boarding company, PetStay, has just been awarded the top rating by local authorities after strict new regulations were introduced last year.
Since launching in 2005, PetStay has arranged dog boarding with local carers, offering an alternative to kennels and multi-dog pet sitters across the country.
Linda Barnes, who owns PetStay Newcastle upon Tyne, North Tyneside & South Northumberland said: “I’m very happy that South Tyneside Council have recognised that we offer the highest standard of care to our doggie guests.
“We understand that peace of mind is incredibly important when it comes to dog care especially when you’re going on holiday. We are incredibly proud to show our customers that we have been awarded the highest possible rating and their pet will be safe and happy with our carers.”
New laws, which came into force in October 2018, amended previously outdated regulations regarding animal welfare and now mean that businesses involved in animal activities must be licensed by the local Council.
Carole Davy, managing director of PetStay said: “This is a fantastic result for Linda. It is a testament to the care and attention each individual guest dog receives by her PetStay branch.
“It has always been important to us that PetStay be licensed and insured to care for pets, and these new licensing laws and regulations are an excellent step to reassure our customers that their pet’s welfare is our top priority.”
