Hello my name is Sophia and I am very excited about welcoming you to PetStay Norfolk. We offer five-star pet sitting, giving your dog a home-from-home stay and providing you with peace of mind while you’re away.
Ever since watching James Herriot on the tv and reading all his books, I have wanted to be a vet. After graduating as a veterinary surgeon and working as a vet for a few years I started a family with my husband and found I couldn’t really combine being a vet with family life.
I started teaching Animal Management at the local college and achieved my teaching degree after 2 years. This was a great combination, I still had a job where I could take my dog to work but when the children were off school, I was there for them as well. After teaching for about 7 years, it was time for a change. I was looking for a job where I could combine my love for dogs with my organisational skills and when I saw that PetStay Norfolk was available (in 2017), I jumped at the chance to take it on and I haven’t looked back!

Our daily rate is made up of two separate payments: the Arrangement Fee and the Carer’s Allowance. Together, these payments cover the full cost of your dog’s stay, ensuring they receive loving care in a safe and happy home.
Prices listed are per day (or part thereof), except for Bank Holidays, when the Carer’s Allowance is doubled — because we believe our wonderful carers deserve extra for their dedication during these special times!
The Arrangement Fee secures your dog’s booking and is due within five days of meeting your chosen carer. For repeat bookings, this fee must be paid within five days of your requested dates being confirmed by PetStay.
This fee is non-refundable and non-transferable, as it covers the service provided by your local PetStay branch in carefully matching your dog with a suitable carer. It also contributes to essential operational costs, including:
The Carer’s Allowance is a separate payment, made directly to your chosen carer when you drop your dog off for their holiday. On Bank Holidays, this allowance is doubled, reflecting the extra commitment and care our carers provide during these times.
Together, the Arrangement Fee and the Carer’s Allowance make up the full daily rate for your dog’s stay.

You must be a genuine dog lover, have experience of looking after dogs and you need to be home during the day so you have plenty of time to give to the dogs you are caring for. You must have a secure garden and agree to abide by PetStay guidelines. You are allowed to have a dog of your own as long as your dog gets on with other dogs.
If you meet all the requirements listed above, we will come and visit you at your home. We will check the security of the garden, explain PetStay procedures and show you the guidelines each carer needs to follow. If you are happy with everything and we feel you would make a suitable PetStay carer, we would follow up a reference and arrange public liability insurance for you.
Our service is on a one-to-one basis, so only dogs from the same household will stay with you. You are allowed to take up to three dogs from the same household, BUT you choose what you are happy with. We will ask you how many dogs you would like to look after and what sized dog/s you would be happy to care for.
No, the owner will bring any food or treats for the duration of the stay. Any toys, bedding, medication and leads will also be brought.
Yes each dog MUST have up to date vaccinations, have been wormed and treated for fleas. Proof of the vaccinations will be brought to the meeting and shown to you.
All dogs should be taken out each day for walks. When you have your meeting with the owners all routines, including the number and length of walks, will be discussed. The dog is only ever walked on a lead.
We/you would endeavour to contact the owner or the emergency contact. The owner or the emergency contact would be liable for any expenses incurred in taking the dog to the vet.
You will receive a daily allowance starting from £16.50 per day.
If you are interested in becoming a carer, please ring us for an informal chat and ask any questions or email us with your details and we will come back to you. You can also use the contact form on the ‘contact us’ tab. If we feel you are suitable we would then arrange to visit you at home.

Excellent care for my elderly blind dog. Good accommodation was made for his special requirements. The carer was kind and helpful throughout, and took time to send me regular updates throughout his stay. I would definitely recommend.
Denise.

We always know, when using PetStay, that our dog, Izzie will be well cared for and cherished. She’s a lively little dog who doesn’t seem to realise that she is now an aging adult, but her carers are great, and she clearly has a wonderful time on her holidays, and feels safe and secure. As always, she had a great stay with Jenny and Alan, and showed clear affection for them when we went to collect her.
Rosie

Colin was a great in caring for Paddy while on holiday. Paddy was very relaxed and happy in his care.
David

This was our Working Cocker Spaniel Winston’s 3rd stay with Claire in Norfolk and as always he absolutely settled right in at home with Claire, her dog Max and her family. He always comes home exhausted but extremely happy and we can always tell he is well loved and cared for during each stay. Thank you PetStay Norfolk for helping us find Claire our dog will never go anywhere else!
Lynsey

We booked with PetStay Norfolk and I was a bit nervous as we have never left our 1 year old dog before. I shouldn’t have worried, he had the best time being walked on the beach and the undivided attention of Lindsey and Mike, who clearly love dogs and obviously became very fond of our dog. The weather was extremely hot during his stay and they adapted by getting up very early to get the walks in. Would definitely use again
Suzie

My dog Jessie recently had her first stay with Carole. She’s a nervous dog but immediately settled with Carole. I had regular updates and photos which put my mind at rest. I would highly recommend Carole and wouldn’t hesitate to book in with her again.
Karen

Buddy bonded with Verity on our visit prior to even booking his stay, which meant that he had a marvellous week at hers whilst we were on holiday. She messaged us every day with pictures and told us what he had been up to. We would thoroughly recommend the PetStay package and in particular we thank Verity for everything she did to care for Buddy whist we were away.
Mick

Our 1 year old Cavapoo Coco spent 17 nights with the wonderful Shelagh and Ian and their dog Tilly. Coco was looked after fantastically, communication and picture updates were great and more than we ever expected. I cannot rate them both highly enough and what a lovely house to leave our special Coco. I have already recommend Shelagh and Ian to several friends and we will certainly be booking again.
Abbie

Our 8 month puppy stayed with Heather for 12 days in August and the experience was fantastic from the outset. We had a meet up which was relaxed and unhurried and it was great to see that Ruby was made to feel at home. Heather sent regular updates throughout our time away and responded immediately if I had any questions. It was the first time we had left Ruby so we were slightly anxious. Nothing was too much trouble for Heather and Ruby thoroughly enjoyed her stay.
Kathy

I found PetStay through the Norfolk council website. I wanted to have our dog looked after as we were celebrating a family wedding in the area. It was a straight forward process overseen by a vet that matched our dog with the carers. We had a meet and greet before confirming the dates. Our dog had a truly lovely time going on beach walks and having cuddles. She settled in well and soon made herself at home! I would definitely use this service again and if possible the carers too!
Tina

Excellent communication from the first moment we contacted PetStay. We were matched with perfect hosts who understood the needs of our lively spaniels and gave them a perfect holiday while we were on holiday. They kept us up to date with photos each day. We had complete peace of mind about their care.
Deborah

We are always confident that our dog will be safe, in good hands, with PetStay. She was very happy to see Julia and Stephen again, and seemed to settle very quickly. We always receive updates with photos, of how she’s doing – and she is clearly at home and enjoying herself whilst there.
Rosie

Thank you Alison & Frank, Tilly settled well … loved her stay. Forever thankful that I can enjoy my time away knowing she’s so well looked after.
Christine

I have boarded Freddie with both Alison, and with Annette and Ian. I can’t praise them enough. What a treat to go on holiday knowing hat my dog will receive the very best of care. On one trip Freddie had an ear infection and Annette was in constant contact with me and Sophia helped to and he was taken to the vets and his meds all sorted for me. These people are not just paid boarders, they really care for your pets as though they are their own. In fact I think Freddie thinks Ian is his new best friend and he follows him everywhere. I would not hesitate to recommend PetStay. They are efficient, reliable and most of all kind.
Happy Customer
Using PetStay was easy and Tracy was fantastic the dogs were very well looked after and looked right at home. All I’d say is the admin fee is very steep compared to what the carer receives.
Rachel
Hi Hilda. Thank you for having me to stay this week. I had a really lovely time and it’s always special to be with you. I hope I was a good girl and that we can have more fun in September when we are spending more Cosy time together.
See you soon. Missy. Xxx.
Thank you Hilda for looking after her so well as you always do. Love Anne.
This was the first year we used PetStay for our dog Bella (and it won’t be the last) Bella loved staying with Adrian, we were sent photos and videos of her having a fab time, which made are holiday better as we were not worrying. The service PetStay provide is brilliant, we cannot fault it at all. The little touches of having photos and videos sent to families is brilliant too. Would recommend to anybody considering PetStay. I’m sure Bella is looking forward to going back next year too!
Andi

My labradoodle Jessie recently had a stay with Claire from PetStay Norfolk. She’s a very anxious dog but she very quickly settled there and on her second stay she ran in quite happily. I’m very happy for her to be there and can go away relaxed in the knowledge that is is being well cared for. I’d be very happy to recommend Claire to anyone needing dog boarding.
Karen
Always outstanding care given to our dog Bailey! He feels at home when being looked after by the carers from PetStay! Strongly recommend!
Sarah

Our Miniature Schnauzer Finley spent 5 days with Andrea while we were away. We found Andrea very welcoming and calm. She kept us updated throughout Finley’s stay and we felt happy that he was with her and was settled. We would happily go to Andrea again.
Joanne

Our nearly 2 year old French Bulldog, Blue recently had her second stay with PetStay, this time spending four nights with Jenny. It was Blue’s first stay with Jenny, and she took excellent care of her. Jenny is clearly very experienced with dogs and was so reassuring from the start, giving us complete confidence that Blue was in safe hands. It was obvious that Blue had been very well looked after and cared for throughout her stay. A huge thank you to both Jenny and Sophia for providing such a fantastic service. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend PetStay to anyone.

We are Kate & Geoff (pictured above is one of our doggie guests as we don’t like our photo taking!)
We are an active retired couple living in Fakenham with a large garden and a love of dogs! Especially Bernise Mountain Dogs – yes we are happy with large hairy hounds!
Over the years we have had many dogs of our own and enjoy both their company and the walking involved in their care.
Our visitors travel with us when we are out and about, and visiting our local cafe for breakfast during the week is a regular event .
We are currently out for commission until next year due to a member of the team having broken a leg (not me) so having to take a short break – sorry about the pun – until we are back to full strength.
One or other of us is always home and visiting dogs have freedom to roam the house and garden and we can provide hugs , walks and cuddles when required.

My name is Heather and I live with Ian in Gorleston-on-Sea, a lovely area not far from the beach, and easy to get to the Broads.
I’m fairly new to PetStay, but I have years of experience of owning and looking after dogs. Over the years, I’ve had many dogs, including Jack Russell’s, Spaniels and Labradors. I quite often look after my friends’ dogs too, including even a spoilt little Military dog! (Or, as some might say, they look after me!)
Dogs are a very important part of my life – they are my routine and give me a sense of purpose, love and genuine joy. I recently lost my beloved Maddie, a much-loved Cocker, and I’m not ready to replace her just yet. But caring for dogs helps fill the gap left by Maddie.
I firmly believe that a dog is part of the family, so when you go away, your dog is also on holiday too. That’s why I only take one dog at a time, so they get plenty of attention and continue to feel loved, safe and comfortable in a home-from-home environment. Your beloved pet will be treated as if they were my own.
I’m really looking forward to welcoming your dog into our home and making sure they feel happy and relaxed while you’re away.

Hello, I’m Verity and as seen from the photo- I love being near the sea. Luckily I live in a coastal village with plenty of local walks.
Dogs have always been part of the family, whilst I was growing up with my family. Being with PetStay gives me the best of both worlds- being able to travel without worrying about pets and time to devote to the enjoyment of being with dogs which is why I joined them.
I have been with PetStay for three years now and thoroughly enjoy looking after dogs, all with their own unique personality and traits.
I get to meat lots of different breeds and still haven’t got a favourite! I love getting to know the dogs and their lovely families.
Verity still tutors part time so is mainly available in school holidays or for short stays during term time week days

We are Annette, Ian and the lovely Copper. We have both been brought up with various types of dogs. We got Copper from a rescue when he was 12 months old and he is now 16 years old. We became carers because we just love having dogs in our lives and live 3 mins from the beach. Copper happily shares his home with dogs, although he isn’t playful anymore.
Annette and Ian live in a lovely, detached bungalow in Gorleston with a nice size garden. Ian works from home and boarding dogs can often be found in his office

Meet Lindsey and Mike! The couple have had a 5 year break because they had a grandchild and understandably, their priorities changed.
Now that their grandson has started primary school, they are back!
These brilliant carers were very popular before they stopped. They live in a lovely bungalow in Caister on Sea with a small garden close to the beach.
Both are retired and very active people who love dogs of all sizes.

Hi, I am Colin, I have recently retired and no longer have a dog of my own.
The lovely lab in the picture is my previous dog Milo. I have had 4 Black Labs, a Cocker Spaniel and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
I have a love for German Shepherds although I have never owned one myself.
I have joined PetStay as I love dogs, miss having a dog around the house and being a carer keeps me active, without the commitment of having a dog of my own.

Hi I’m Claire. I live in a beautiful rural village in South Norfolk with my family and my beloved spaniel Max. We go for lots of walks in the countryside and love being out in nature enjoying the fresh air and wildlife. I love all animals but I especially love dogs so I thought why not become a dog carer for PetStay Norfolk so I can meet dogs of all shapes and sizes and get paid for it! I have some regular boarders now and also enjoy taking on new boarders and getting to know new faces and doggy personalities – they love life and enjoy being out and about. Dogs are so special. I love spending time with them and they make me and my family really happy.

Hi, I’m Adrian. My two grown up children wanted me to get another dog after my last one “Toots” died at the age of 15. Being the wrong side of 60, I was not prepared to commit the next 15 years to caring for another dog full time. PetStay provided me with the best of both worlds. I compare it to being a grandparent. I can give massive amounts of love, care, and consideration to the dogs in my care, and then hand them back to their owners. I get to meet a huge variety of breeds and characters, and they all make me laugh out loud.

We’re Clive and Allison. We have always had dogs and treat them like one of the family. When our dog Rodney passed away a few years ago we were understandably devastated. The house wasn’t the same. So we decided to get Missy & Milo, two lovely Shitzu Bichon cross dogs which we raised from puppies. Unfortunately, late last year Milo passed away after a short illness. Missy has looked so unhappy since he has gone. Clive was due to retire and had been thinking of something he could do to fill his time. We knew we both loved dogs and walking, and it would be company for Missy to have another pooch to play with, so we made the decision to become PetStay carers. We have used PetStay ourselves, on a number of occasions, and were really happy with the service they provided. Missy and Milo were puppies when we first used PetStay, as the thought of putting them in kennels wasn’t on the agenda. So far we have had Betty stay with us, who was an absolute joy to look after. And we hope to have more pooches to care for in a nice calm environment.

Hello from Shelagh and Ian.
We live in Gorleston, both of us are retired and have recently joined PetStay.
We retired to Gorleston from Cambridge 6 years ago and are keen to find hobbies to keep us occupied. We have a very friendly Westie called Tillie Mai who loves meeting everyone human or canine.
We have always owned dogs and they have always brought great joy to our lives. We came across PetStay when we looking for a short stay for Tillie as she couldn’t come on a trip with us. We did not want to put her into kennels as we both felt that she would be much happier in a friendly warm homely environment.
It also led us to believe that we could help other owners and their dogs by supplying them with that attractive environment and at the same time giving us a satisfying hobby along with the chance of meeting some canine characters.
We live in a detached bungalow with an enclosed garden in a quiet avenue and are 5 minutes walk from Gorleston beach and front. (joined PetStay Norfolk early in 2024)

We are Alison and Frank.
We have been Petstay carers since June 2022 and love it!
These are Dolly and Coco.
Dolly was our very first boarder and after she lost her older brother, she was joined by a younger sister Coco! They are regulars and treat our home as their own!
We have many regular boarders. We love having different breeds and getting to know their individual personalities. We try and give our visitors a holiday of their own. We have lots of lovely walks near by and my mum, who is in her 90s, loves to have visits and cuddles too!

These are the lovely Linda and Emmanuel who live in a detached house with a large secure garden.
Emmanuel is a recently retired Officer of the Merchant Navy and his wife Linda works from home.
They have 2 lovely dogs, George the Whippet (5yrs) and Hope the Greyhound (6yrs)
Emmanuel and Linda joined PetStay in 2022 having placed one of their dogs with us after which they felt that they too could offer a safe, loving and friendly environment for dogs when their owners where travelling or away.
They enjoy walking the dogs in the countryside and playing with them in their large garden throughout the day.

Pictured here is Ralph with one of their regular boarders.
Ralph and Valerie joined PetStay Norfolk in 2021. They live in a terraced home in Gorleston with their 2 cats and a small mainly paved back garden.
Ralph and Valerie don’t often get a chance to look after new boarders now as they are fully booked with their regular boarders.
We love looking after a variety of dogs of various shapes and sizes , from young and lively cockapoos to older and more sedate dogs of mixed breeds. They all have their different personalities and needs. The younger ones enjoying energetic walks on the beach and the older ones maybe just a slow walk around the park, with a sit-down by a bench halfway around. Not only are the dogs getting some exercise but so are we.’

Let us introduce you to the lovely Carolyn and Martin, pictured with one of their boarders. Carolyn and Martin live in a 3 story home with a secure back garden in a lovely market town in South Norfolk with lovely walking areas nearby. They are particularly good with the older calmer dogs or with greyhounds. Carolyn and Martin have been with PetStay Norfolk since April 2019. This is what they say about being part of PetStay Norfolk: I used to work as a childminder and Martin has retired from teaching.
We have both had dogs in the past and other pets also. We felt we would love the opportunity to care for dogs and enjoy meeting different breeds and their owners.
We both enjoy making the most of the lovely walks on our doorstep.
We want to make our home a relaxing, happy place for each dog to stay in.

Julie, pictured here with one of her boarders. Julie lives with her own two lovely French bulldogs in a lovely village with great walking opportunities. Julie lives in a bungalow with a nice garden. She has been with PetStay Norfolk since March 2019 and is still happy to have both new and repeat boarders. This is what Julie says: I have lived with rescue dogs all my life: a random assortment of breeds including GSD, Border Collie, Cocker, Irish Setters, lurcher, English Sheepdog, Dobermann.
I have also walked for the Cinnamon Trust & fostered difficult dogs for national rescues.
The issues I’ve encountered (inc aggression, separation anxiety, resource guarding, BOAS, puppy farming) inspired me to study further, and gain a level 4 qualification in Advanced Canine Behaviour.
While I was thinking about taking a break from fostering, a Petstay ad popped up on my Facebook feed, and I couldn’t resist.
All my boarders have been adorable, and they’ve really enjoyed staying with my own 2 dogs, and my grey parrot, who is careless of data laws, has been calling the boarders by name.

Jessamy lives in a lovely home in a small town in South Norfolk with vast country walks nearby. Jessamy has been with PetStay Norfolk since December 2018 and mainly only takes her regular ‘dogs’ now but is always happy to help in an emergency.

The lovely Jenefer and Don, Jen pictured here with a doggie guest. Jenefer and Don live in a small bungalow with a small, paved back garden, in a North Norfolk town with lots of lovely walking opportunities. They have proven to be particularly good with nervous little dogs ensuring to put them at ease in no time. Jenefer and Don have been with PetStay since April 2019. This is what they say about being PetStay Norfolk carers: We have lived in West Norfolk for over thirty years and have owned various breeds of dogs, including an Old English Sheep Dog, a Cross Doberman Rottweiler, and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. We live in a detached bungalow within a small village with plenty of walks nearby, including The Peter Scott Walk. Since Jenefer’s retirement and me being semi-retired we have joined PetStay and have had the pleasure of looking after and making friends with, some lovely dogs who have been great characters with their own personalities. We are very mindful that a dog is part of a family, and they may worry about them while on their holidays, therefore we are happy to update the family and send photos, if wanted while the dog is in our care.

Let us introduce you to the lovely Gerri and Mike. Gerri and Mike live in a lovely bungalow with a very large fully enclosed garden in a rural village in North Norfolk. They are our longest standing carers having been with PetStay Norfolk since before Sophia owned the branch (March 2017). They don’t often get a chance to take on new boarders now as they are very busy with their regular boarders. This is what they say about being a carer for PetStay Norfolk: ‘We are carers for PetStay Norfolk and love doing it, making a fuss of the dogs and stroking them is very therapeutic.
Dogs just make us smile more & feel happy, the nice people we meet who bring their dogs to us, are lovely. Also it’s such good exercise, dog walking. It’s amazing how many people we have met on our walks. Now we have retired it’s such a great thing to do.’.
