PetStay Norfolk, your local home dog boarding provider.

Hello my name is Sophia and I am very excited about welcoming you to PetStay Norfolk. We offer five-star pet sitting, giving your dog a home-from-home stay and providing you with peace of mind while you’re away.

Ever since watching James Herriot on the tv and reading all his books, I have wanted to be a vet. After graduating as a veterinary surgeon and working as a vet for a few years I started a family with my husband and found I couldn’t really combine being a vet with family life.

I started teaching Animal Management at the local college and achieved my teaching degree after 2 years. This was a great combination, I still had a job where I could take my dog to work but when the children were off school, I was there for them as well. After teaching for about 7 years, it was time for a change. I was looking for a job where I could combine my love for dogs with my organisational skills and when I saw that PetStay Norfolk was available (in 2017), I jumped at the chance to take it on and I haven’t looked back!

Our Carers

All our carers love dogs and are experienced dog owners who provide the best care for your pet while you’re away. Each carer is personally interviewed by PetStay to ensure they offer a safe, loving, and comfortable home environment for your dog. We are fully licensed, and our carers are covered by our public liability insurance for your peace of mind.

Some of our carers may have a dog of their own. If your pooch is happy to stay with another friendly dog, we’ll arrange a meet-up so they can get acquainted and see if they’re a good match.

Frequently Asked Questions about becoming a PetStay Carer

You must be a genuine dog lover, have experience of looking after dogs and you need to be home during the day so you have plenty of time to give to the dogs you are caring for. You must have a secure garden and agree to abide by PetStay guidelines. You are allowed to have a dog of your own as long as your dog gets on with other dogs.

If you meet all the requirements listed above, we will come and visit you at your home. We will check the security of the garden, explain PetStay procedures and show you the guidelines each carer needs to follow. If you are happy with everything and we feel you would make a suitable PetStay carer, we would follow up a reference and arrange public liability insurance for you.

Our service is on a one-to-one basis, so only dogs from the same household will stay with you. You are allowed to take up to three dogs from the same household, BUT you choose what you are happy with. We will ask you how many dogs you would like to look after and what sized dog/s you would be happy to care for.

No, the owner will bring any food or treats for the duration of the stay. Any toys, bedding, medication and leads will also be brought.

Yes each dog MUST have up to date vaccinations, have been wormed and treated for fleas. Proof of the vaccinations will be brought to the meeting and shown to you.

All dogs should be taken out each day for walks. When you have your meeting with the owners all routines, including the number and length of walks, will be discussed. The dog is only ever walked on a lead.

We/you would endeavour to contact the owner or the emergency contact. The owner or the emergency contact would be liable for any expenses incurred in taking the dog to the vet.

You will receive a daily allowance starting from £16.50 per day.

If you are interested in becoming a carer, please ring us for an informal chat and ask any questions or email us with your details and we will come back to you. You can also use the contact form on the ‘contact us’ tab. If we feel you are suitable we would then arrange to visit you at home.

Kipper and Dixie

April 2025

Thank you to Tracyann, she is such a loving and caring person for our two JR terriers, Kipper & Dixie.  She kept us up to date with messages and photos and took them on lots of lovely walks.  It’s so nice to feel they are in good hands.
They are looking forward to their next visit in June, thank you Tracyann.

We are so lucky to have Julie look after our much loved Frenchie when we go away. Julie is extremely knowledgeable about the breed, calm, which means we can go away relaxed and reassured knowing our little one is safe and is having her own wonderful holiday. Julie keeps us updated with hilarious photos of her enjoying her time. Thank you Petstay for arranging Julie for us, she is an absolute diamond

Bernie

March 2025

Bernie is a King Charles Spaniel and as a breed he is a real people’s dog so it was so important to find someone who would look after him, so he felt secure and loved while we were away. When I found PetStay, and they introduced me to Heidi and Chris my worries were over. They care for him, take him out on day trips and I know he’s happy and so well looked after, providing me with updates and photos too. I can’t imagine anyone else that I would trust with his care, so thank you so much.

Algie

January 2025

A real home from home for our loving if quirky soft coated Wheaten Terrier, Algie. Jessamy is a wonderfully understanding and trusted carer who has now cared for Algie on many occasions. Our sincere thanks to her for providing us with peace of mind during Algie’s numerous stays over the years.

Liz

Lexi

January 2025

Our rescue dog Lexi has stayed with both Jenefer & Don and Chris & Ann, and with both sitters she seems to have settled extremely well and been lovingly cared for. Both couples were very understanding of her anxiety and resulting quirks, and we were kept informed of how she was doing so we didn’t worry unnecessarily! Jenefer in particular sent regular updates with photos which was very reassuring. We wouldn’t go anywhere else for pet sitting now we have found PetStay.

Darcy

December 2024

Darcy really enjoyed his stay and Tracyann said he was a good boy and she would have him again…..(Sophia has looked after Darcy on a previous occasion and visited Tracyann on Darcy’s first day with her, I’m glad you got to see him again. He would have liked that). Thanks to PetStay for another good experience.

Jack

December 2024

With just 24 hours before our flight left I had a call from Sophia to say unfortunately our dog sitters Carolyn and Martin would not be able to look after Jack as Carolyn’s mum had had a bad fall. Within a couple of hours Sophia had contacted Tracey and Mark who kindly said they would be able to look after Jack. Next morning I took Jack to there home, Jack soon settled in, sleeping on their bed, snoring all night. A big thank you for helping us out at such short notice Tracey and Mark. Thank you Sophia for all your help at such short notice. Carolyn’s told me her mum was hopefully leaving hospital soon and we would like to wish her a speedy full recovery. We would always recommend PetStay, very professional, always reliable and the very best carers for everyone’s dog.

Bertie

December 2024

Can’t fault the service at all. Julie is absolutely brilliant with Bertie and booking is so easy. We get regular updates and have several more stays booked!

Thomas

Henry

November 2024

A great stay with Linda and Emmanuel. Many thanks to Linda and Emmanuel for looking after Henry, our rather large dog, so well. He loved spending time with their dogs. We felt vey confident that they were taking good care of Henry and were completely fine with managing the meds he came with following an unexpected injury earlier in the week. Would definitely use this service again.

Rowena

Billie

November 2024

Our 8 month old puppy Billie had a wonderful 3 night mini break with Linda and Emmanuel. Their home offers a luxurious and spacious doggie holiday heaven and we felt very confident leaving our pup in their experienced and capable hands. She came home better behaved than when we dropped her off, thanks to Hope and George (host dogs) giving her some gentle feedback on her mischievous behaviours. We are grateful for the patience and kindness shown to Billie, who looks forward to her next PetStay when she is a bit more grown up.

Kate

Tilly

November 2024

PetStay organised a weekend stay for my dog Tilly at reasonably short notice. Very pleased with Ian and Shelagh looking after my Tilly which must have been a bit hard as they also had a dog called Tilly. Both got on very well with each other.

Chris

Mack

November 2024

Our first time using PetStay and it won’t be our last. Our dog Mack who’s 14 had a fantastic holiday with Tracey and Mark. Our first time using a home boarding service as normally he would’ve gone in kennels but unfortunately he’s now on his own and due to his age I wanted him to have a home from home experience. Tracey regularly sent me photos and a video of him during his stay and he looked very settled and content. Highly recommend using this service. Thank you Sophia for arranging this for us.

Sandra

Paddy

October 2024

We were very happy with Paddy’s first mini break with PetStay. He is only 9 months old, and this was his first stay within a carers home, so I was a little anxious about how he’d get on. I needn’t have worried as he was clearly very well looked after by Tracey and Mark. Tracey is very calm and kind and Paddy quickly became attached to her and made himself at home. I will definitely use PetStay again and hope Paddy can enjoy more holidays with Tracey and Mark in the future.

Katherine

Henry

October 2024

This was our first time using PetStay and wouldn’t hesitate to use them again. The service was incredibly thorough and efficient, giving us assurance that Henry would be in safe hands. Always hard to leave him, but Verity and Sid took excellent care of him, giving him lovely walks in their beautiful local area. We received daily updates with photos. From the photos, it looked like he had a better holiday than we did!

Helen

Jack

October 2024

We found PetStay around 2 years ago. We contacted Sophia, the founder of PetStay and she suggested Carolyn and Martin as our Jacks careers. We met them both and felt they would be our choice within minutes of our meeting and after Jack’s first stay we knew we had indeed made the right choice. We have been on several holidays since that first meeting and Carolyn and Martin are so good with him it’s now like his second home, when I take him to their house he runs to the door. They are naturally kind, considerate and very caring towards Jack, he actually sits on Carolyn’s lap, something he has never done with me lol. We have complete piece of mind every time we go away, Carolyn sends photos of Jack every day with a report of his well being. We would recommend PetStay to anyone who is going away whether it’s for a weekend or much longer, you get complete piece of mind and an assurance that your dog will be looked after in a way you would look after him or her yourself and I would like to personally thank Carolyn and Martin for thoroughly spoiling him every time we go away.
