We are fully licensed, and our carers are covered by our public liability insurance for your peace of mind.

With a dedicated PetStay branch in your area, you can enjoy peace of mind knowing your dog will receive the best care from experienced, fully vetted carers who are part of your local community.
Our daily rate is made up of two separate payments: the Arrangement Fee and the Carer’s Allowance. Together, these payments cover the full cost of your dog’s stay, ensuring they receive loving care in a safe and happy home.
Prices listed are per day (or part thereof), except for Bank Holidays, when the Carer’s Allowance is doubled — because we believe our wonderful carers deserve extra for their dedication during these special times!
The Arrangement Fee secures your dog’s booking and is due within five days of meeting your chosen carer. For repeat bookings, this fee must be paid within five days of your requested dates being confirmed by PetStay.
This fee is non-refundable and non-transferable, as it covers the service provided by your local PetStay branch in carefully matching your dog with a suitable carer. It also contributes to essential operational costs, including:
The Carer’s Allowance is a separate payment, made directly to your chosen carer when you drop your dog off for their holiday. On Bank Holidays, this allowance is doubled, reflecting the extra commitment and care our carers provide during these times.
Together, the Arrangement Fee and the Carer’s Allowance make up the full daily rate for your dog’s stay.

You must be a genuine dog lover, have experience of looking after dogs and you need to be home during the day so you have plenty of time to give to the dogs you are caring for. You must have a secure garden and agree to abide by PetStay guidelines. You are allowed to have a dog of your own as long as your dog gets on with other dogs.
If you meet all the requirements listed above, we will come and visit you at your home. We will check the security of the garden, explain PetStay procedures and show you the guidelines each carer needs to follow. If you are happy with everything and we feel you would make a suitable PetStay carer, we would follow up a reference and arrange public liability insurance for you.
Our service is on a one-to-one basis, so only dogs from the same household will stay with you. You are allowed to take up to three dogs from the same household, BUT you choose what you are happy with. We will ask you how many dogs you would like to look after and what sized dog/s you would be happy to care for.
No, the owner will bring any food or treats for the duration of the stay. Any toys, bedding, medication and leads will also be brought.
Yes each dog MUST have up to date vaccinations, have been wormed and treated for fleas. Proof of the vaccinations will be brought to the meeting and shown to you.
All dogs should be taken out each day for walks. When you have your meeting with the owners all routines, including the number and length of walks, will be discussed. The dog is only ever walked on a lead.
We/you would endeavour to contact the owner or the emergency contact. The owner or the emergency contact would be liable for any expenses incurred in taking the dog to the vet.
You will receive a daily allowance starting from £17 per day.
If you are interested in becoming a carer, please ring us for an informal chat and ask any questions or email us with your details and we will come back to you. You can also use the contact form on the ‘contact us’ tab. If we feel you are suitable we would then arrange to visit you at home.
Ollie has stayed with Mandy several times a year for a few years now. He loves spending time with her and she is brilliant with him. Ollie is an older dog (14) so I do worry about him but Mandy keeps in touch with messages and photos letting me know how he is while he is staying with her. Ollie is happy so I am happy.
Happy Customer
I just wanted to let you know Maralyn was great, we will definitely use her again

We had Melvin and Wendy watch our Bonnie for 3 weeks while we were in Australia. This was our first time leaving Bonnie for so long with ANYONE. Having been abandoned at the rescue once, she’s naturally very nervous and anxious when we separate. By the time we picked her back up, you would think she LIVED with Wendy and Melvin lol her actions showed us that they treated her so lovingly. They were very communicative throughout the 3 weeks, sending us photos and updates, and giving her their full attention despite having an emergency themselves- she was never not cared for. We felt so at ease almost immediately after leaving her with them and we are so glad to have found them as dog sitters so we can continue to use them as Bonnie’s carers from here on out! I would recommend PetStay, Wendy, & Melvin in a heartbeat.
Kelly
Patch really loved his stay with Wendy and Melvin, I don’t think he wanted to leave lol. We will definitely book them again in the future. Thank you for finding someone on short notice and such lovely people.
Elizabeth
We have now used PetStay for two years and found them to be very helpful and efficient. Ernie is always happy to stay with Claire and judging by the photos we are sent always seems to enjoy his stay. Thank you.
Peter
Everything was very well organised from beginning to end. Nelly dog stayed with Maralyn in Leeds, this was our first time using PetStay. Cheryl was great with organising and communicating with us, and Maralyn was a gem looking after Nelly. This is a little rescue dog who has very specific behaviours and needs, and it took a special person to leave her with. Maralyn was that person and we are so grateful. We got regular photo updates which really helped us not worry about how things were going, and Nelly ended up having a lovely stay. We will definitely use the services again whenever we need to leave Nelly.
Caroline
Nora had a blast with Rachel again. She is so good with her.

Cheryl from the Leeds branch is very helpful and we were very happy with Melvin and Wendy, who looked after Mabel and Bailey for a week recently. They have different requirements as one is an elderly lab with restricted mobility and the other is a pug. They looked after our dogs very well and sent photos so we could see they were ok. We wouldn’t hesitate to leave them with Wendy and Melvin again. Thank you
Carol
Great communications. Friendly and professional service from Cheryl in making the booking. Great match up in finding suitable pet sitters (Wendy & Melvin). We were a bit apprehensive about Amber’s first experience of being away from home but it all worked out perfectly. Wendy and Melvin welcomed her in their home and were so kind in looking after her particularly when she wouldn’t eat properly. She loved her walks and playtime. We would definitely recommend them and look forward to booking with them again.
Janet
Petstay Leeds and Ilkley are brilliant. Cheryl has matched us with several carers and the matching process is great. Recently our dog Bella has been staying with Wendy and Melvin. They treat her like their own family and do a brilliant job looking after her. I honestly think she’d be happy moving in with them permanently.
Kathryn
First time we have used PetStay, we were teamed up with our carers Wendy and Melvin who looked after our dogs so well, Belle , black Labrador and Bailey, cocker spaniel, they would send us messages and photos to keep us updated on how they were doing which was lovely. I would highly recommend the services of Cheryl from PetStay who was very professional and helpful and especially recommend Wendy and Melvin.

From the very first contact with PetStay I have been impressed. We had a very detailed conversation about the needs of our beloved sighthound and were matched with Maralyn. We feel she has taken great care of him and he has been expertly looked after. Maralyn took the time to reassure us by sending us updates and pictures which we appreciate very much, we will definitely be using again. Thank you!
James
The arrangement process was really straightforward, and our dog was well-looked after during her stay. We had regular updates and I could enjoy our holiday knowing she was safe and sound!
Georgia
We chose PetStay to have that home from home experience and that is exactly what we get every time. We have used the same dog carer at least 10 times now and every time I know they will be well looked after. Would 100% recommend!
Kelly
We were so happy to find PetStay service for our dog Astrid whilst we took a long holiday at quite short notice. Cheryl was professional and took the time to understand what we were looking for to ensure a good match for her care. This meant we were matched with a carer Maralyn that was exactly what we needed. We are aged a trial day after meeting to ensure everything worked out, and when we were away, we got lovely updates that assured us we had left Astrid in good care. PetStay was a perfect option outside of kennels for us and would use again.
CC
Just a short note to say many thanks for placing Beth with Harry and Linda. She was very content to go there when Phil dropped her off and she seemed quite content and was wonderfully groomed when I went to pick her up. I have thanked Harry and Linda, but next time you speak to them, please thank them again.
Wendy
We have used PetStay quite a few times. Knowing our dog is being left in a home environment while we go on holiday means a lot. The boarders welcome your dogs into their home and you know they are comfortable, safe and being looked after. Would definitely recommend PetStay.
Found this company fairly last minute for a summer holidays stay for our 4.5yo lab. Cheryl was extremely quick to reply and gave us a very reasonable quote, found us someone who was available and arranged a meeting with them all within the space of a week. Very efficient and professional service. Then the actual stay itself was very easily arranged (pick up and drop off) with the carer themself who was very lovely and easy going. I was confident when I dropped off my beloved doggy that she would be well looked after and she definitely was. I probably would have liked a few more updates while we were away but I’m not going to deduct stars for that because I probably could have communicated that better with the carer. We still got updates approx every other day and the photos we were sent were great! I could tell when I picked up our dog that she’d had a great time. She had happy body language and made sure to give the carer a cuddle before we left! All in all we would definitely use this service again if we need to and would recommend to anyone in the Leeds area!
I can’t thanks Cheryl, the local manager, and Rachael who cared for our reactive GSD Dali enough for their care and support. I feel totally confident that Dali is staying with someone who is professional, warm and will look after her as they would their own dog.
