PetStay Stockport & East Cheshire Branch

Hello, my name is Tracey and I am really excited to be running the new PetStay, Stockport branch (and surrounding areas).

I love finding your dog’s their perfect holiday home and I am proud of the fact we offer a loving, caring alternative to kennels.

Since setting up the branch in 2014 we have gone from strength to strength with many lovely carers, all fully licensed and insured who are ready to offer your dogs a home from home environment while you are away. They will treat them as one of the family, giving you peace of mind while you are enjoying your holiday.

All my carers are based in SK postcodes, some have a dog(s) of their own and others have no dogs, but we will always try and match your requirements as closely as possible ensuring the best carer for your four legged friends. We understand dogs are as individual as people and may have different needs so it is my job to try and place your dog with the carer most suitable. We do not mix external dogs together, unlike some home boarders, so you can be assured you dog will get lots of attention and one on one care.

We do get incredibly busy during school holidays and in the summer months so make sure you call us and arrange your dog care as soon as possible.

If you would simply like to chat about our services and the carers available then please give me a call and I will be happy to put your mind at ease.

Frequently Asked Questions about becoming a PetStay Carer

What are the requirements of becoming a carer?

You must be a genuine dog lover, have experience of looking after dogs and you need to be home during the day so you have plenty of time to give to the dogs you are caring for. You must have a secure garden and agree to abide by PetStay guidelines. You are allowed to have a dog of your own as long as your dog gets on with other dogs.

How are your carers vetted?

If you meet all the requirements listed above, we will come and visit you at your home. We will check the security of the garden, explain PetStay procedures and show you the guidelines each carer needs to follow. If you are happy with everything and we feel you would make a suitable PetStay carer, we would follow up a reference and arrange public liability insurance for you.

Do I need to be licensed?

If you are successful then you would apply to the council for a home boarding licence (if required by the local council), we can help you with this, it is a straight forward process.

How many dogs can I look after?

Our service is on a one-to-one basis, so only dogs from the same household will stay with you. You are allowed to take up to three dogs from the same household, BUT you choose what you are happy with. We will ask you how many dogs you would like to look after and what sized dog/s you would be happy to care for.

Do I have to provide the food?

No, the owner will bring any food or treats for the duration of the stay. Any toys, bedding, medication and leads will also be brought.

Does the dog/s have to be vaccinated?

Yes each dog MUST have up to date vaccinations, have been wormed and treated for fleas. Proof of the vaccinations will be brought to the meeting and shown to you.

What about walking the dogs?

All dogs should be taken out each day for walks. When you have your meeting with the owners all routines, including the number and length of walks, will be discussed. The dog is only ever walked on a lead.

What if the dog becomes ill?

We/you would endeavour to contact the owner or the emergency contact. The owner or the emergency contact would be liable for any expenses incurred in taking the dog to the vet.

How am I paid?

Your fee is paid as the dog is dropped off. This is a self-employed home-based position, is very flexible and fits around your lifestyle.

What happens next?

If you are interested in becoming a carer, please ring us for an informal chat and ask any questions or email us with your details and we will come back to you. You can also use the contact form on the ‘contact us’ tab. If we feel you are suitable we would then arrange to visit you at home.

Max

My 2 year old beagle Max stayed with Liz for 10 days whilst we were on holiday – and what a massive help she was. This was Max’s first time away from home and does tend to struggled settling in new environemnts, he is also your typical mischievous beagle! But Liz was great – kept me informed whilst I was away which put my mind at rest and he soon settled in with the family. I will definitley be using Petstay again if needed! Thanks so much, it really is piece of mind for whilst your on holiday 🙂

William

I’ve been using Petstay for the last 1 1/2 years. It is a fantastic service which always provides reassurance about how William is doing. I have a regular carer called Maureen and she walks William four times a day with her dog rocky. Both of the dogs have a fantastic time and Maureen keeps me updated as much as I require. The service is always spot on and it’s fantastic to know that William is so well looked after when I am away.

The service is always efficient and easy to use online. All-round an excellent service for those pets are known as which I would recommend to anyone who is interested.

Absolutely amazing service from someone who loves dogs as much as I do, Tracey is one the most professional, responsible people I’ve worked with and I trust her implicitly to pick only the best carers. Brilliant. It’s changed our lives as we can go away with complete peace of mind. There is nothing she could do to improve the service – it’s perfect

Hi Tracey,
Just to say thank you for sorting out the accommodation for our dogs! They
were all really well looked after and very happy! Think Maddy would stay at
Hilary’s! She loves people around and usually she is home alone because Mel
is at work! Holly and Evie were really settled and Evie found a new friend
in one of Anna’s collies!
Thanks again and should we need any stays in the future we shall definitely
be in touch! And will recommend your service to others!

Lily

Just a quick email to say how pleased I was with Lily’s stay with Beryl. She seemed so happy when I collected her last week. I’ll definitely use Petstay again. I could just do with finding someone that would have our other dog who is a bit stressy as seeing her in kennels was not a nice experience.

Thanks again, Emma

Winston

We had a wonderful holiday and so did Winston!… Simon & Victoria are absolutely lovely and their children are very sweet. We have a subdued Winston at the minute so that’s how I know he has had a wonderful time which actually is nice as I know he has been extremely well looked after. I would highly recommend simon & Victoria and we will definitely use PetStay again.
Many many thanks for all your help

Best Wishes, Sarah & Winston

Amy & Cookie

I collected the dogs today from Christine’s house, she had just returned from a dog-walk to Woodbank Park:) I thought you might like some feedback as Christine is a new carer on your books.
I just wanted to let you know that she’s done a fantastic job of looking after both dogs, they both looked really settled and not at all bothered about coming home with me. Christine really knows dogs (as you said!) and is really observant of their little quirks and mannerisms, she summed up my two dogs’ characters really well and seemed really fond of them. I’m really pleased with the warm care that she gave to them both. She’s obviously a real animal lover, I would definitely recommend her as a carer and would be more than happy to board with her again:) Many thanks for all your help sorting out care for my doggles!

Best wishes Julie

Molly

Hi Tracy, just to say thanks for fixing molly and i up with Maureen she looked after her very well and i think molly enjoyed playing with Rocky Maureen’s dog. I would not hesitate using Maureen again, in fact we are going away for a few days in December and will need a dog sitter then.

Thanks again Karen White

PetStay Stockport News

PetStay Stockport (Me and Alfie) have had a very busy start to 2015, taking lots of enquiries from both new and returning customers. I am also pleased to say the number of Petstay carers has doubled since the end of last year, and we now have over 15 in and around the Stockport area, who are ready to offer your dogs a loving alternative to kennels whilst you are away on holiday. If you are a returning customer then you already know what lovely carers they are and will agree they do a wonderful job looking after your doggies.

I hope to continue adding to this growing team, so always look forward to any new carer enquiries. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you want to find out more.

I would also like to remind you that key holiday dates do book up fast so be sure to book your dogs in with Petstay as soon as you start planning your holidays to avoid disappointment.

I am pleased to say I have now completed a course in Canine First Aid so can offer practical advice to all my carers should the need arise.

PetStay continue to get out and about and have attended various events through 2014/15 with more planned over the coming months. The highlight was our stand at CRUFTS in March, but also the Pet Show at Event City late last year. We also enjoy attending some local shows, we will be attending the following in 2015:

26th July
Heaton Park Dogs Trust Fun day

20th September
Bark in the Park at Abney Hall, Cheadle organised by our good friends The Muttley Crew, who not only pass clients our way for home boarding, but always make us feel very welcome.

3rd/4th October
The Pet Show, Event City, Manchester

Not forgetting DOGFEST happening 14th June at Arley Hall, we will be there as a spectator.
