Hello, my name is Jason and I am the new owner of the Stockport, Wilmslow & Macclesfield Branch of PetStay. I live in Hazel Grove with my wife, three children and our much-loved family dog, Sophie, a Lhasa Apso. We first came across PetStay when we were booking our first holiday after getting Sophie and really wanted her to have the best time while we were away. Eight years later she still stays with the same carers that she did on that first holiday.

I understand the love that owners have for their dogs and from experience, I know that owners do not want to leave their furry family members in a kennel. This is why I was excited to take up the opportunity to take over PetStay Stockport and East Cheshire Branch – to offer bespoke home boarding for family dogs.

Why Choose PetStay Stockport and East Cheshire

PetStay Stockport and East Cheshire covers all the SK postcodes including Stockport, Cheadle, Wilmslow and Macclesfield areas and offers a “home from home” whether you are planning a trip for business, a weekend break, or a fortnight get-away. The benefits of home boarding are being able to tailor make your dog’s “holiday” with PetStay. This means, we are able to follow the routines you already have in place at your own home, be that sleeping, feeding, exercise or companionship. Staying in a home environment means your dog will get lots of love and attention from a carer who will treat your dog as their own and that’s important, to you and to them!

My Host Families

I have handpicked my host families ensuring I only employ the absolute best. All carers are experienced dog owners and most importantly – love dogs! A meeting will be set up so you and your dog(s) can meet their carer and see their holiday home beforehand. Safety is very important to us, so we never mix dogs from different families, and we keep all dogs on leashes whilst walking in public places. Finally, all hosts are fully insured and regularly inspected by myself to make sure they meet the stringent criteria required for the license by the local authority.

PetStay Stockport

How it Works

I take great care in getting to know you and your dog before they home board with PetStay and take full details of your dog so that I can find the perfect carer for him or her. I will guide you through the booking process and a “holiday list” will be provided of essential items that will need to be packed to make sure your dog(s) have their favourite things with them. So, if you would like to book a holiday with us or find out more about our service, please do get in touch on the numbers or email below if you are based in the SK postcode area including Stockport, Cheadle, Wilmslow and Macclesfield areas,  I look forward to hearing from you and providing the absolute best home boarding that Stockport and East Cheshire have to offer.

Carers Walking Dog

Frequently Asked Questions about becoming a PetStay Carer

What are the requirements of becoming a carer?

You must be a genuine dog lover, have experience of looking after dogs and you need to be home during the day so you have plenty of time to give to the dogs you are caring for. You must have a secure garden and agree to abide by PetStay guidelines. You are allowed to have a dog of your own as long as your dog gets on with other dogs.

How are your carers vetted?

If you meet all the requirements listed above, we will come and visit you at your home. We will check the security of the garden, explain PetStay procedures and show you the guidelines each carer needs to follow. If you are happy with everything and we feel you would make a suitable PetStay carer, we would follow up a reference and arrange public liability insurance for you.

How many dogs can I look after?

Our service is on a one-to-one basis, so only dogs from the same household will stay with you. You are allowed to take up to three dogs from the same household, BUT you choose what you are happy with. We will ask you how many dogs you would like to look after and what sized dog/s you would be happy to care for.

Do I have to provide the food?

No, the owner will bring any food or treats for the duration of the stay. Any toys, bedding, medication and leads will also be brought.

Does the dog/s have to be vaccinated?

Yes each dog MUST have up to date vaccinations, have been wormed and treated for fleas. Proof of the vaccinations will be brought to the meeting and shown to you.

What about walking the dogs?

All dogs should be taken out each day for walks. When you have your meeting with the owners all routines, including the number and length of walks, will be discussed. The dog is only ever walked on a lead.

What if the dog becomes ill?

We/you would endeavour to contact the owner or the emergency contact. The owner or the emergency contact would be liable for any expenses incurred in taking the dog to the vet.

Will I be paid?

You will receive a daily allowance starting from £17 per day.

What happens next?

If you are interested in becoming a carer, please ring us for an informal chat and ask any questions or email us with your details and we will come back to you. You can also use the contact form on the ‘contact us’ tab. If we feel you are suitable we would then arrange to visit you at home.

Our Reviews

Thank you for finding Jennie & Simon to look after Betsy whilst we were away. She definitely received 5 star treatment and was made to feel at home. I think we missed her more than she missed us and we would have no worries leaving Betsy with them again in the future. I received updates & the attached picture from Jennie which certainly helped in putting our minds at rest.

Thank you again for everything 🐾🐾👍🏻

We were absolutely delighted with Jennie and Simon from the meet and greet to leaving Monty for his first stay last week we felt totally reassured.  Monty was really calm and happy on collection.  Jennie is a real find – thank you to her and for you for matching us.

Alfie had a second holiday of the year with Mimi and had a lovely stay.  I received photos, videos and updates and knew he was being well looked after.

June 2023

Many thanks to Mimi for having Chester to stay for a few days. He was well looked after and seems to have had a lovely time. The photos were much appreciated.

Just writing to say what a wonderful time Izzy had whilst staying at Mark’s house last week. Mark made Izzy feel so welcome and he sent us regular updates and photo’s throughout Izzy’s stay, which was great to see how she settled in really well with Mark’s other dogs too and she can’t wait to stay again later this year! 🙂

June 2023

Lola had a 3 day stay with Cathy.

Cathy was a lovely dog minder, so friendly &  cheerful. She was so accommodating to Lola’s funny little ways.

I would highly recommend her, she kept us informed of her stay by sending photos and messages each day.

December 2022

What a great service. Our dog was looked after really well, with plenty of walks. Thank-you to Mimi and James.

December 2022

This is the first time I’ve used PetStay for my 6 year old dog Lottie and have been so impressed with the service provided by Jason. Lottie stayed with Mark and his 2 dogs and I could not of wished for a better career! Mark took amazing care of my little girl whilst we were on holiday and sent me lots of updates and photos, which really reassured me that Lottie was settled and happy. When I came to collect Lottie she was obviously very pleased to see me but equally was also sad to leave Mark as she gave him a big love before she left and I just knew she had a very happy time during her stay. I would highly recommend Mark to anyone as he is such a kind considerate career and treated Lottie just like one of his own dogs.

December 2022

This is the second time I’ve used Petstay for Lottie, our 4 year old Large Munsterlander, I must say I have total peace of mind every time I use the service, John who looks after Lottie treats her as his own and takes amazing care of her whilst we are away. She gets plenty of walks and soon settles into a new temporary home environment, I think John really loves looking after Lottie and I think Lottie even misses him, When its time to pick her up, obviously we have missed her and we are all exited to see her again, she is in very good, clean, healthy condition with no signs of stress at all. We are so pleased that we have found Petstay, we wouldn’t consider any other alternative, Many Thanks.

Great service from Hannah of PetStay Stockport, Very conscientious and efficient, and has some wonderful people working for her who are fantastic with our dog Tommy; I would recommend this service every time. George Baines in Manchester

May 2020

I was very cautious initially as I had never left my dog before. However Hannah made me feel so comfortable throughout the process.  Max stayed with Chelsea, she was amazing. I had regular updates and pictures of Max throughout his stay. Max came home absolutely shattered after playing constantly for 2 days but he obviously loved it.

I cannot recommend Chelsea and Hannah enough. I will definitely be using pet stay again. Thank you ladies xx.

December 2019

Flexible and helpful. We have used PetStay for a few years to board our collie x. Hannah and , before her, Tracey, were responsive to queries and our dog has always been well looked after. Hannah even helped me to rectify things when I booked the wrong week in error.

October 2019

I was initially worried about leaving my dog, Lola with someone outside the family as this was a first time for her. However Hannah, the lady in charge of the Stockport area and Jackie, whose house Lola stayed in both made me feel completely at ease and Lola had a great time staying with Jackie. Would happily use the PetStay service again should the need arise in the future.

October 2019

Trina and Phil looked after our 12 year old yorkie Penny when we went on a 2 week cruise, and we were quite stressed beforehand, as she had just lost her sight through cataracts only 3 weeks before we went away. But Trina and Phil were superb, allowing us to have a few pre-visits with Penny to get her used to her new surroundings. They were kind, attentive and patient with her, and kept her to her familiar routines as much as possible. They also sent us daily photos and videos of her walking and having cuddles, and that really reassured us whilst we were away. We would recommend PetStay and Trina and Phil any time, they are excellent.

October 2019

Skipper had a whale of a time with Chelsea and her Border terrier, Floki. I don’t think they stopped playing the entire time apart from when they fell asleep exhausted! We will definitely be using Chelsea again so thank you for finding us such a good match.

September 2019

Firstly thank you for a great service. It was very thorough so I felt like I could trust your decisions. I was a bit nervous about leaving with Lenny with someone he didn’t know, and because he can be a handful at times, but I needn’t of worried. Sheila is lovely and I could tell when I picked Lenny up that he had been very well looked after. He must of had some great walks as he was very tired but happy! Thank you once again.

Just wanted to say how happy we were with Jackie’s care of Paddy. He was very happy and really well looked after. It’s a great service that PetStay offer and you made sure that everything went smoothly from start to finish. We’ll definitely use you again

September 2019

Definitely worth paying if you don’t want to put your dog in kennels and want them to be in a home based environment. We have 3 different careers that have looked after our dog. We have always met the carer before confirming the booking and our dog has always come home happy and well looked after.

August 2019

I wanted to drop you a line to say how lovely one of your home boarders Jackie Bacon is as she looked after our Jack Russell Terrier ‘Manx’ whilst we were away on holiday for 11 days last month. We went to pick ‘Manx’ up yesterday from Jackie and he’d clearly had a wonderful time in her care. It was lovely for myself and hubby Steve to know our boy was very well looked after, Jackie is a lovely lady and we’d have no hesitation in ‘Manx’ staying with her again when if and when required.

June 2019

I recently had to find a carer for my dog “Wilma”, this is always a hard thing to do for me as she is more than a dog she’s my family. I wanted her to be well cared for so I got in touch with Hannah at PetStay as we have used them before and they were amazing. Hannah got us in touch with a lovely couple called Gina and James who honestly were the closest thing to perfect. The love and care they provided were amazing and we still keep in touch. Thanks Hannah and PetStay truly amazing.

Suzy was well looked after by Claire and her family, I wouldn’t hesitate in leaving her with them again. She’s an old dog and I was a bit concerned about leaving her with a young family, however I needn’t have worried, she came back fit and well and I think she enjoyed her holiday, as did I!

June 2019

Honey had a great time with Judy , she was spoiled rotten , Honey used all her charm and had Judy smitten, great service and communication throughout our holiday.

I just wanted to thank you for your services and putting me in touch with Jackie. She has been absolutely fantastic and I’m so happy Oscar has been looked after so well. I was able to enjoy my holiday with peace of mind knowing he was okay. I would love for him to stay with Jackie in the future and am so happy I’ve found her! Thanks to you both again.

Excellent service even prior to my dogs holiday. Hannah was trying really hard to find the best suitable temporary home for my 3 year old Staffordshire bull terrier Chloe even though I contacted her only three weeks before my holiday. And she did. Janet and Michael were so lovely and took a great care of Chloe. We got lots of pictures and videos as well so we could see how much is chloe enjoying herself. I would highly recommend and will use PetStay again.

I just wanted to send you a message to say thank you for finding Maureen and Rocky for our Manx to stay with over the Bank Holiday weekend. He had a lovely time by the sound of what Maureen told us playing with Rocky lots.

Maureen was so nice and we couldn’t have wished for a better home for Manx to go to whilst we were on our short break away.

Thank you once again. I will be contacting you soon with regards to further home boarding for Manx next June if that is ok.

Take care

They were brilliant petstay carers. Janet put me at ease from the first introduction.

I loved getting updates from them about Ronnie and what he was up to. He was happy and very well look after when I came to collect him.

I will definitely use them next time.

Just to let you know that Christine & Bob were fantastic. The dogs were clearly fond of them and very content in their home. They kept me up to date with photographs and we felt reassured that they were in safe hands.

My 2 year old beagle Max stayed with Liz for 10 days whilst we were on holiday – and what a massive help she was. This was Max’s first time away from home and does tend to struggled settling in new environemnts, he is also your typical mischievous beagle! But Liz was great – kept me informed whilst I was away which put my mind at rest and he soon settled in with the family. I will definitley be using Petstay again if needed! Thanks so much, it really is piece of mind for whilst your on holiday 🙂

I’ve been using Petstay for the last 1 1/2 years. It is a fantastic service which always provides reassurance about how William is doing. I have a regular carer called Maureen and she walks William four times a day with her dog rocky. Both of the dogs have a fantastic time and Maureen keeps me updated as much as I require. The service is always spot on and it’s fantastic to know that William is so well looked after when I am away.

The service is always efficient and easy to use online. All-round an excellent service for those pets are known as which I would recommend to anyone who is interested.

Just a quick thanks for allowing me to have a fantastic holiday knowing my gorgeous boy was looked after and given the same love and attention he gets at home. I was able to relax knowing he was in safe hands and will defiantly be using your services again. Thanks to you and Neeran, lovely family.

Joanne, Stockport

Absolutely amazing service from someone who loves dogs as much as I do, Tracey is one the most professional, responsible people I’ve worked with and I trust her implicitly to pick only the best carers. Brilliant. It’s changed our lives as we can go away with complete peace of mind. There is nothing she could do to improve the service – it’s perfect

Holly & Evie

Hi Tracey,
Just to say thank you for sorting out the accommodation for our dogs! They
were all really well looked after and very happy! Think Maddy would stay at
Hilary’s! She loves people around and usually she is home alone because Mel
is at work! Holly and Evie were really settled and Evie found a new friend
in one of Anna’s collies!
Thanks again and should we need any stays in the future we shall definitely
be in touch! And will recommend your service to others!

Helen, Stockport

Just a quick email to say how pleased I was with Lily’s stay with Beryl. She seemed so happy when I collected her last week. I’ll definitely use Petstay again. I could just do with finding someone that would have our other dog who is a bit stressy as seeing her in kennels was not a nice experience.

Thanks again, Emma

We had a wonderful holiday and so did Winston!… Simon & Victoria are absolutely lovely and their children are very sweet. We have a subdued Winston at the minute so that’s how I know he has had a wonderful time which actually is nice as I know he has been extremely well looked after. I would highly recommend simon & Victoria and we will definitely use PetStay again.
Many many thanks for all your help

Best Wishes, Sarah & Winston

I collected the dogs today from Christine’s house, she had just returned from a dog-walk to Woodbank Park:) I thought you might like some feedback as Christine is a new carer on your books.
I just wanted to let you know that she’s done a fantastic job of looking after both dogs, they both looked really settled and not at all bothered about coming home with me. Christine really knows dogs (as you said!) and is really observant of their little quirks and mannerisms, she summed up my two dogs’ characters really well and seemed really fond of them. I’m really pleased with the warm care that she gave to them both. She’s obviously a real animal lover, I would definitely recommend her as a carer and would be more than happy to board with her again:) Many thanks for all your help sorting out care for my doggles!

Best wishes Julie

Hi Tracy, just to say thanks for fixing molly and i up with Maureen she looked after her very well and i think molly enjoyed playing with Rocky Maureen’s dog. I would not hesitate using Maureen again, in fact we are going away for a few days in December and will need a dog sitter then.

Thanks again Karen White
