Hello, my name is Jason and I am the new owner of the Stockport, Wilmslow & Macclesfield Branch of PetStay. I live in Hazel Grove with my wife, three children and our much-loved family dog, Sophie, a Lhasa Apso. We first came across PetStay when we were booking our first holiday after getting Sophie and really wanted her to have the best time while we were away. Eight years later she still stays with the same carers that she did on that first holiday.
I understand the love that owners have for their dogs and from experience, I know that owners do not want to leave their furry family members in a kennel. This is why I was excited to take up the opportunity to take over PetStay Stockport and East Cheshire Branch – to offer bespoke home boarding for family dogs.
At PetStay, we understand that leaving your beloved dog while you’re on holiday is a big decision. That’s why we offer a trusted, home-based alternative to kennels, ensuring your dog enjoys a comfortable stay in a loving environment. With one-on-one care and no mixing of dogs from different households, we provide a stress-free experience tailored to your dog’s needs.
Personalised, Home-from-Home Care – Your dog stays in a cozy, caring home, just like their own.
Solo Boarding Only – We never mix dogs from different families, ensuring a calm and relaxed stay.
Tailored Matching Process – We carefully select the perfect carer for your dog’s personality and routine.
Meet & Greet Before Booking – You and your dog get to visit the carer’s home beforehand to ensure a great fit.
Fully Insured & Licensed – Your peace of mind is our priority, with full insurance and licensing in place.
Ongoing Support – Our team is here to help, offering 24/7 support for both owners and carers.
With PetStay, you can enjoy your time away knowing your furry friend is safe, happy, and being cared for like family.
All our carers love dogs and are experienced dog owners who provide the best care for your pet while you’re away. Each carer is personally interviewed by PetStay to ensure they offer a safe, loving, and comfortable home environment for your dog. We are fully licensed, and our carers are covered by our public liability insurance for your peace of mind.
Some of our carers may have a dog of their own. If your pooch is happy to stay with another friendly dog, we’ll arrange a meet-up so they can get acquainted and see if they’re a good match.
1. Get in Touch – Call or email your local PetStay branch to discuss your dog’s needs and your preferred dates.
2. Learn About PetStay – We’ll explain how PetStay works and guide you through the next steps.
3. Matching Your Dog – We’ll take all the details about your dog and match them with the most suitable carer available.
4. Meet the Carer – We’ll arrange a meeting for you and your dog to meet the carer and ensure a good fit.
5. Ready to Book – If you’re 100% happy with your carer, you’re all set to proceed with your booking.
6. Confirm Your Booking – Complete our online booking form and pay the arrangement fee within 5 days to confirm your booking.
7. Confirmation – You’ll receive an email confirming your booking details.
8. Stress-Free Booking – You’re all set! No worries, just anticipation for your time away.
9. Drop-Off Time – On your dog’s drop-off day, bring their food, bed, toys, and any other essentials to their carer’s home. At this point, you’ll pay the carer’s allowance directly to the carer.
10. Enjoy Your Holiday – Head off on your trip with complete peace of mind knowing your dog is in great hands.

We’re proud to offer our trusted PetStay service in your city, providing local, personalised dog care that ensures your pet feels right at home. With a dedicated PetStay branch in your area, you can enjoy peace of mind knowing your dog will receive the best care from experienced, fully vetted carers who are part of your local community.
Our daily rate is made up of two separate payments: the Arrangement Fee and the Carer’s Allowance. Together, these payments cover the full cost of your dog’s stay, ensuring they receive loving care in a safe and happy home.
Prices listed are per day (or part thereof), except for Bank Holidays, when the Carer’s Allowance is doubled — because we believe our wonderful carers deserve extra for their dedication during these special times!
The Arrangement Fee secures your dog’s booking and is due within five days of meeting your chosen carer. For repeat bookings, this fee must be paid within five days of your requested dates being confirmed by PetStay.
This fee is non-refundable and non-transferable, as it covers the service provided by your local PetStay branch in carefully matching your dog with a suitable carer. It also contributes to essential operational costs, including:
The Carer’s Allowance is a separate payment, made directly to your chosen carer when you drop your dog off for their holiday. On Bank Holidays, this allowance is doubled, reflecting the extra commitment and care our carers provide during these times.
Together, the Arrangement Fee and the Carer’s Allowance make up the full daily rate for your dog’s stay.

You must be a genuine dog lover, have experience of looking after dogs and you need to be home during the day so you have plenty of time to give to the dogs you are caring for. You must have a secure garden and agree to abide by PetStay guidelines. You are allowed to have a dog of your own as long as your dog gets on with other dogs.
If you meet all the requirements listed above, we will come and visit you at your home. We will check the security of the garden, explain PetStay procedures and show you the guidelines each carer needs to follow. If you are happy with everything and we feel you would make a suitable PetStay carer, we would follow up a reference and arrange public liability insurance for you.
Our service is on a one-to-one basis, so only dogs from the same household will stay with you. You are allowed to take up to three dogs from the same household, BUT you choose what you are happy with. We will ask you how many dogs you would like to look after and what sized dog/s you would be happy to care for.
No, the owner will bring any food or treats for the duration of the stay. Any toys, bedding, medication and leads will also be brought.
Yes each dog MUST have up to date vaccinations, have been wormed and treated for fleas. Proof of the vaccinations will be brought to the meeting and shown to you.
All dogs should be taken out each day for walks. When you have your meeting with the owners all routines, including the number and length of walks, will be discussed. The dog is only ever walked on a lead.
We/you would endeavour to contact the owner or the emergency contact. The owner or the emergency contact would be liable for any expenses incurred in taking the dog to the vet.
You will receive a daily allowance starting from £20 per day.
If you are interested in becoming a carer, please ring us for an informal chat and ask any questions or email us with your details and we will come back to you. You can also use the contact form on the ‘contact us’ tab. If we feel you are suitable we would then arrange to visit you at home.

What a wonderful and supportive service from start to finish, this is the first time I have left my baby with strangers but I had no worry’s or concerns. The booking and introduction process was easy and very helpful and made me feel relaxed with the support and advice from everyone.
Throughout my holiday Jenni stayed in contact with updates and loads of photos. Jenni and James really ensured my baby girl had an amazing holiday just like us. It went that well we are all booked again. I would highly recommend the service and definitely Jenni and James as a wonderful family to take care of your babies.

Rosie was very happy staying with John. He put me at ease and sent me photos keeping me up to date.
Thank you

We approached Jason at Stockport, Wilmslow and Macclesfield branch of PetStay initially for home boarding and from start to finish it’s been seamless. Jason found a suitable home for our Jack Russell Terrier ‘Manx’ with Janet, Richard and their doggy Dexter. From the first visit to their home to him staying with them for just over 2 weeks it’s clear our boy has been ‘very’ well looked after just like their own dog. It’s comforting to know the level and care they’ve given him as he looked very contented indeed from the photo updates Janet sent during our holiday away. I wouldn’t hesitate using PetStay again and Janet and Richard if they were available of course. Thank you so much for looking after Manx, it’s peace of mind knowing he’s been lovingly cared for.
Mel, Steve & ManxRecently we left our 8year old ETT with dog boarder John. We were apprehensive as this was the first occasion we’d left her and she is a rescue dog with a traumatic history, is nervous and doesn’t make friends easily. However, we need not have worried because when we collected her she was happy, relaxed, looked very well and even put a little weight on. John had obviously handled her with love, acceptance and kindness, even though she wouldn’t let him put her lead on, hence no walks. She’d followed him around, spent time sleeping and enjoyed his garden. We would certainly be happy to leave her with John again.

Pongo had the best time with Jo and Paul .. he didn’t want to come home 🤣 Thank you Jason for helping everything happen so quickly and easy.

Carole was brilliant with our dog. She made him and us feel welcome in her home and looked after him so much not sure he wanted to come home. Thanks Carole

Janet is a godsend. An experienced dog owner who cares for Pickles as if he were her own. She was very meticulous and organised prior to the stay and ensured she fully understood Pickles needs. While I was away she kept me updated after first checking my preference for frequency of contact. Pickles is clearly very fond of her and greets her as if she were a family friend. I wholeheartedly recommend Janet for absolute peace of mind that your dog is getting the best care when you are on your holiday. Rissie
We recently used PetStay for our 3-year-old pug Coco. We had to arrange the stay quite last minute which was stressful but we came across PetStay through recommendations. We put in an initial request and then spoke to Jason, who explained the process, the payment, and how the stay for Coco would be tailored to her needs, our peace of mind, and that of the owner. Our dog can be a bit needy and like all the attention. Jason said he had someone in mind who would be ideal, Carole.
To help the process and make all of us feel comfortable, most importantly Coco and Carole we had an initial meet-up prior to Coco’s stay, This again helped for our peace of mind, Carole was friendly, caring, and could see she generally looked forward to having Coco stay, especially having lost her dog a year ago which is why she became a PetStay member. Carole asked all the right questions about Coco, such as her food, vets, habits, and everything in between. She had made sure she had all the information
We brought Coco back a week later ready for her holiday as we called it. Carole immediately made Coco feel safe and at home and made it a lot easier to leave and say goodbye ready for our holiday. During our holiday Carole kept us updated with how Coco was doing and what they had been doing, including both videos and pictures. You could see Carole was treating Coco as one of her own, and Coco was being well looked after and being spoilt (in a good way).
When we returned home the process again was easy, I went to pick up Coco and you could see Coco had settled in making Carole home her own. Coco had a great holiday with Carole and we would 100% use again. Thank you to Carole and PetStay
Ian
Information on the process was very useful and informative. A real home from home for my dog. Janet kept me informed on how my dog was settling in and with photos. Very flexible when my flight was delayed by fog This will be my first choice next time I Have to leave my dog behind.
I am so pleased to have found this service. Our dog Otto seemed to love being at Julies and was really chilled and happy when we picked him up. She sent some lovely photos of him enjoying family life with then and it meant we were able to enjoy our holiday knowing that he was happy. Thank you so much
Sally
Our dog spent 10 days with Janet and Dexter. Janet treated our dog like her own. She sent us many pics and updates to let us know he was OK. Would definitely recommend and use again. Thank you Janet
We’d like to thank Mark and Francine for hosting Dexter. Mark kept us regularly updated with photos of how Dexter was doing. Mark really had a good understanding of Dexter and his ‘ways’. We have already booked a return stay for Dexter next May, and will go on holiday knowing that Dexter will be very well cared for.
Helen
Sidney was very happy during his holiday to carer John, he had lots of lovely walks and was kept well.
Sammy
Thank you so much for having Izzy! We love how she’s so settled with you and how much you care for her!

As with most dog owners, we want what is best for our pet and decided to use PetStay. The initial communications were excellent and we were quickly paired with Mark who arranged for a home visit. It was clear he was experienced and made us feel comfortable immediately. During the holiday, we received regular photos and videos which reassured us that our dog was having the best time and was in safe hands. On our return, Mark was very complimentary about our dog’s behaviour and it was a sign that she didn’t want to leave and was ‘pining’ for a few days afterwards. Would definitely recommend PetStay and especially Mark, a genuine safe pair of hands

PetStay has been amazing! Helen and Stuart looked after our Labrador, Rupert, for 16 days and we couldn’t have been happier. They sent lots of updates of how he was doing and it was clear that he was treated as part of the family. They completely put us at ease with leaving him for such a long time and it allowed us to enjoy our break without worrying. Thank you so much again.
Emma
Cavapoo Alfie loves the fuss and he’s so well looked after by Francine and Mark. He’s stayed for 3 weeks earlier in the year and a week recently so will definitely book again. He has lovely walks and I receive photos and updates on him. He was so excited when we arrived he couldn’t get in their door quick enough. Happy dog, happy me.
