PetStay West Midlands South Branch

Hi! We’re Lin and Keith and we’re delighted to have taken over the Petstay Home Boarding franchise for the West Midlands South area. Long-term dog owners, we were previously Carers (and still are!) for Petstay and believe strongly that all dogs deserve the loving and secure home-from-home experience that Petstay deliver as an alternative to kennels. Sadly we lost our beloved Airedale Terrier Freddie last year, so the star in our picture is one of our regular visitors, Jago, who makes himself very much at home on his regular visits to us!
Our maxim for providing Dog Boarding services is very simple – “would we have sent our dog there?” If the answer is “No” we would not ask or expect other dog owners to send their Man’s Best Friend there either! That’s why every Petstay Carer is carefully selected to ensure delivery of the best possible experience for your dog or dogs. All Carers are also assessed and follow the standards set out by DEFRA and the local authority and are fully insured. All of our Carers are dog lovers, sometimes have their own dog, and all, like us, dog – mad!
When you contact us, we will carefully discuss your dog/s and your requirements, then we will select a suitable carer to meet your needs, and arrange for you and your dog/s to visit and meet with them to ensure that you are completely happy with the arrangements prior to any booking being confirmed.
Once that’s done you can go away and relax secure in the knowledge that your dog is in the best possible place and will enjoy his break as much as you do.

Are you worried about leaving your dog in kennels? Have you ever considered a dog sitting or home boarding service in Birmingham?

At PetStay West Midlands South we’ve carefully selected many caring and affectionate people who will care for your dog while you’re away on holiday. Our dog sitters in the Birmingham, Solihull and Moseley areas who are all fully licensed (if required by the local council) and insured provide a far better experience for your dogs than kennels because we provide a home from home environment, a real alternative to kennels.

Here at PetStay West Midlands South we offer an outstanding dog sitting service to families who want the peace of mind of knowing their dogs are happy and settled in a loving environment whilst they are away on holiday.

We will pair your dog with a suitable loving carer who will ensure that your dog will receive home from home care and won’t miss out on any home comforts they are used to. Our carer will match your dog’s daily routine to ensure they remain as settled as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions about becoming a PetStay Carer

What are the requirements of becoming a carer?

You must be a genuine dog lover, have experience of looking after dogs and you need to be home during the day so you have plenty of time to give to the dogs you are caring for. You must have a secure garden and agree to abide by PetStay guidelines. You are allowed to have a dog of your own as long as your dog gets on with other dogs.

How are your carers vetted?

If you meet all the requirements listed above, we will come and visit you at your home. We will check the security of the garden, explain PetStay procedures and show you the guidelines each carer needs to follow. If you are happy with everything and we feel you would make a suitable PetStay carer, we would follow up a reference and arrange public liability insurance for you.

How many dogs can I look after?

Our service is on a one-to-one basis, so only dogs from the same household will stay with you. You are allowed to take up to three dogs from the same household, BUT you choose what you are happy with. We will ask you how many dogs you would like to look after and what sized dog/s you would be happy to care for.

Do I have to provide the food?

No, the owner will bring any food or treats for the duration of the stay. Any toys, bedding, medication and leads will also be brought.

Does the dog/s have to be vaccinated?

Yes each dog MUST have up to date vaccinations, have been wormed and treated for fleas. Proof of the vaccinations will be brought to the meeting and shown to you.

What about walking the dogs?

All dogs should be taken out each day for walks. When you have your meeting with the owners all routines, including the number and length of walks, will be discussed. The dog is only ever walked on a lead.

What if the dog becomes ill?

We/you would endeavour to contact the owner or the emergency contact. The owner or the emergency contact would be liable for any expenses incurred in taking the dog to the vet.

Will I be paid?

You will receive a daily allowance of £13 for one dog, £21 for two dogs and £29 for three dogs.

What happens next?

If you are interested in becoming a carer, please ring us for an informal chat and ask any questions or email us with your details and we will come back to you. You can also use the contact form on the ‘contact us’ tab. If we feel you are suitable we would then arrange to visit you at home.

Our Reviews

Buster

“I have used PetStay for a while now, so I thought it was about time I left this wonderful company and Buster’s favourite carer Lorraine a review. I couldn’t ever imagine putting Buster in kennels so this is the perfect alternative and we get to go on holiday without having to worry about Buster. Buster loves going to Lorraine’s he actually pulls me to get up to her house and you can see that Lorraine loves her job so much. Booking is so easy and there is no stress at all with anything. It will always be my number one!”

Maisie

“I left Maisie with Christine for 3 days the first time whilst I was away and was very pleased with the care given. Christine has just looked after Maisie again for a week and has had a ball! She was treated like one of the family being taken on outings and spoiled rotten. I will definitely put Maisie with Christine again when I am away – it was very touching to see how emotional she was when I collected her which shows she loves her as much as I do. Thank you PetStay and particularly Christine”

My two dogs Barney and Baxter stayed once again with Elaine and Bob. I never worry about them when I’m away as I know they look after them just as much as I do. I leave my dogs with Elaine and Bob rather than family as I know they get their undivided attention. Five star service.

Oscar

“Brilliant! Keith and Lin are just amazing, and what a fab alternative to kennels. Oscar went to meet them several weeks ago, before I confirmed our booking. He was so well looked after, with outings to the park and local events, and his holiday was filled with activities, so much like we usually do together. Keith and Lin just couldn’t do enough for Oscar, and he came home a very happy doggy, having been spoilt rotten for a week. Would definitely recommend and will certainly be using them again in the future.”

“My two dogs home boarded recently with Tracy through PetStay West Midlands South in her family home. It was so reassuring to know they get one to one care with PetStay, as no other dogs are boarded at the same time. They were really well looked after and seemed very happy and content when collected. I loved receiving text updates and pics too so a big thank you to Tracy and to PetStay for a fab service!”

“I just wanted to say a huge thankyou to yourself and Lin for making sure Herbie was settled and happy throughout his time with Tracy and Rosemary.
Knowing that he was being cared for and loved in exactly the same way as he is at home enabled us all to have a worry free holiday. He looked so well and happy when I collected him from Rosemary on Sunday.”

Olly

I would like to thank you both for being such amazing carers to Olly for 2 weeks in September, you gave him all the love and affection he wanted and gave him his walks. He is a very boisterous boy but that didn’t bother you at all. It was a help meeting you before so he could see where he was going and also ourselves, and get the information needed for his stay with you. You kept in touch with us while we were on our holidays, it was nice knowing he was in good hands.
He was a very happy boy when we came to collect him. I would definitely recommend them to look after your pet.

West Mids South - Sheru

Sheru

My 3 yr old GSD Sheru has come home after spending 3 days with the lovely Keith and Lin…and he is such a happy relaxed boy!! He has previously stayed in kennels but he was not happy at all…
Our initial meeting was great. Everything was explained and they met Sheru and he had a chance to wander around their home. They answered all our questions and asked questions about Sheru; his routine, games and treats he likes..
They sent us pictures of what he was doing…and he looked comfortable and relaxed.
We can’t thank them enough!! We enjoyed our break away knowing our fur baby was is safe hands!!
We would highly recommend them and Petstay!!! I will be telling all family, friends and colleagues about Keith and Lin!!!
And I hope that Sheru will stay with them again!.. because we won’t trust anyone else with him!!!
You guys are wonderful!!!
Thank you both!! !!!

Just a quick thank you for organising Maisie & Mist’s care over Christmas and New Year. They have been very sleepy since coming home but are both eating well so I think they are settling back into their normal routine.

George

“We had a new dog sitter for our 7 year-old retired greyhound George in November 2016 called Sue. She was amazing with George. She walked him every day, treated him, cared for him exceptionally well for two weeks and I have no doubt we will be asking her to care for our boy again soon. PetStay West Midlands South offers an excellent alternative to kennels that aims to keep your pet in a good routine and a loving home environment. Thanks Sue and PetStay.”
